Using the best build for Kinich in Mualani in Genshin Impact. All characters were released in Version 5.0, though Kinich’s release only occurred in Phase 2 banners.

Kinich’s main rotation in combat consists of using his Elemental Skill to attach him to an enemy via a grappling hook and then swing around them while firing Loopshots at the target in the center. Furthermore, Kinich is capable of firing a Scalespiker Cannon at them, ending the connection with massive damage. However, he can immediately fire his grapple hook onto another opponent and reinitiate his stance. His main damage stems from his Dendro powers though Elemental Reactions still play an important role in his team comp, so it is best to build Kinich correctly in Genshin Impact.

Best Weapons For Kinich In Genshin Impact (Best Claymores)

Use Claymores With Strong Offensive Stats

Kinich looking down on two other characters in Genshin Impact 5.0

Picking a proper weapon for Kinich is the first step to rounding out his build. When searching for a claymore for Kinich, you should look for weapons that increase classic offensive stats, such as CRIT or ATK. Furthermore, these weapons should have skills that increase the power of his Elemental Skill or that activate extra offensive attacks upon the usage of his Elemental Skill, since that is his main Talent and one that will constantly be used in combat.

The table below lists the best builds for Kinich in Genshin Impact, including recommended weapons, best Artifacts, ideal stats, and more:

Kinich's Best Build In Genshin Impact

Weapon

  1. Fang of the Mountain King (Best 5-star)
  2. Beacon of the Reed Sea (5-star substitute)
  3. Serpent Spine (Best 4-star)
  4. Earth Shaker (Substitute 4-star)

Artifact

  1. Obsidian Codex (4 pieces - best)
  2. Unfinished Reverie (4 pieces - substitute)

Stat Priority

  1. CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
  2. ATK
  3. Dendro DMG
  4. Energy Recharge (sub-stat)
  5. Elemental Mastery (sub-stat)

Skill Priority

  1. Elemental Skill
  2. Elemental Burst
  3. Normal Attack

The best weapon for Kinich is Fang of the Mountain King, his signature 5-star claymore. This weapon offers a high base ATK stat (741 at level 90) and a suboptimal yet still useful CRIT Rate sub-stat (11% at level 90). With its skill, the gains one stack of Canopy’s Favor after hitting a target with Elemental Skill, an effect that can be triggered every 0.5 seconds. After a party member triggers Burning or Burgeon, the gains three stacks, an effect that can be triggered every two seconds and with the triggering character off the field in Genshin Impact.

Each of these Canopy’s Favor stacks increases Elemental Skill and Burst DMG by 10% for six seconds, up to six stacks – each stack’s timer is counted individually. This plays wonderfully with Kinich’s kit, who is consistently attacking opponents with his Elemental Skill – and with the proper team comp, he can expeditiously increase the number of stacks for improved damage. Keeping the stacks up should also be no problem so, despite the low CRIT Rate sub-stat in Genshin Impact’s Fang of the Mountain King, that is compensated for with increased damage all the time.

If you do not have access to his signature 5-star claymore, another great 5-star weapon alternative for Kinich is Beacon of the Reed Sea. Dehya’s signature claymore offers a medium-range base ATK stat (608 at level 90) and a great CRIT Rate sub-stat (33.1% at level 90). The lower attack, however, is compensated for with its weapon skill. When the ’s Elemental Skill hits an enemy, their ATK is increased by 20% for eight seconds. After they take DMG, their ATK is increased by 20% for eight seconds. Both effects can be triggered with the off the field.

The best weapon for Dehya’s build in Genshin Impact, Beacon of the Reed Sea also gives the a 32% boost to their Max HP if they are not protected by a shield.

Because both of these are weapons, you may have to rely on a weaker weapon. The best 4-star weapon for Kinich is Serpent Spine. The weapon offers a decent CRIT Rate sub-stat (27.6% at level 90) and for every four seconds the is on the field, they deal 6% more DMG and take 3% more DMG, up to five stacks – stacks do not reset when they leave the field, but they lose one stack when they take damage. Alternatively, Earth Shaker is a fantastic 4-star weapon for Kinich, too.

With Earth Shaker, the gets a 27.6% ATK bonus via the weapon’s sub-stat (at level 90). Additionally, when a party member triggers a Pyro-related reaction, the ’s Elemental Skill DMG is increased by 16% for eight seconds. This is a craftable weapon from Natlan in Genshin Impact, meaning you can reach R5 (Refinement level 5) quite easily. By doing so, the Elemental Skill DMG bonus is increased to 32%. All of these weapons are superb for Kinich, so choose the one with the effect that best suits your preferences and his team comp.

If the party does not use Pyro reactions, Earth Shaker is not quite a good weapon for him.

Best Artifacts & Stats For Kinich In Genshin Impact

Obsidian Codex Is The Best Set For The DPS

The best Artifact set for Kinich is Obsidian Codex, which was also added with Version 5.0. With two pieces, the gets a 15% DMG bonus when they are in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and on the field. With four pieces, when they consume one Nightsoul point on the field, their CRIT Rate is increased by 40% for six seconds, an effect that can be triggered once a second. Obsidian Codex in Genshin Impact is Kinich’s best Artifact set because both effects should be active whenever he is on the field given his abilities.

If you have yet to farm proper Obsidian Codex pieces, you can alternatively use the Unfinished Reverie set for Kinich. With two pieces, the gets a flat 18% ATK buff. With four pieces, after they leave combat for three seconds, DMG dealt is increased by 50%. In combat, if no Burning enemies are nearby for more than six seconds, the DMG bonus decreases by 10% per second. When a Burning enemy exists, it will increase by 10% up to 50%. This is good if Kinich is in a Burning-focused team comp in Genshin Impact.

When farming Artifact pieces, you will want to prioritize increasing CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK, and Dendro DMG, as these will dictate his power as an on-field Dendro DPS. Worthwhile sub-stats include Elemental Mastery, which will enhance the power of Elemental Reactions, and Energy Regeneration Rate, which will help him recover his Elemental Burst – while not the main part of his kit, Kinich’s Burst in Genshin Impact is a strong nuke ability to unleash before rotating to other characters.

Best Team Comps For Kinich In Genshin Impact

The Dendro DPS Fits Into A Variety Of Parties

The best team comps for Kinich are those that have him at the forefront and double down on one type of reaction. Burning and Burgeon teams are particularly strong for him, especially if he has Fang of the Mountain King equipped. For Burning teams, having Nahida can work, but Emilie in Genshin Impact ively buffs Burning reactions, specifically, so they can complement each other’s kits.

The table below lists a few team comps suggestions for Kinich:

F2P Team Comp

  • Xiangling (Pyro sub-DPS)
  • Collei (Dendro ) // Yaoyao (Dendro healer & )
  • Bennett (Pyro healer & )

You are not restricted to Burning or Burgeon team comps for Kinich, however. Instead, you could make a Bloom, a Hyperbloom, or a Quicken party around him, too, based on your own preferences. The Fang of the Mountain claymore and Unfinished Reverie Artifacts may not benefit too greatly from the lack of Burning reactions, but with other weapons and the Obsidian Codex set, you can get creative with Kinich in Genshin Impact.

Skill Priority For Kinich In Genshin Impact

His Elemental Skill Is The Top Priority

Genshin Impact's Kinich and Ajaw soar the skies.

When leveling up his Talents, you should prioritize getting Kinich’s Elemental Skill to the maximum level before all others. This is his most consistent source of damage and the most reliant part of his kit. Shortly after, be sure to upgrade Kinich’s Burst, as this is a powerful nuke to unleash before swapping through characters in the party. The last priority is his Normal Attacks.

By following these steps and giving him the recommended gear, Kinich can see great improvement in his combat abilities. Luckily, he follows the standard for most DPS characters in the game and does not count on any strange scalings other than traditional offensive ones. With Kinich’s build, you should be able to melt through several new enemies from Natlan in Genshin Impact.
