To adequately farm Iansan’s materials in release of Genshin Impact 5.5, Iansan can provide ATK bonuses to her allies, but in a fairly unusual way: with her Burst, Iansan can create a Kinetic Energy Scale, which follows the team’s active character for 12 seconds.
If Iansan has less than 42 Nightsoul points, the ATK bonus she provides via the Kinetic Energy Scale is based on her Nightsoul points and ATK. If she has at least 42 Nightsoul points, the buff will change to Ardent , which will provide a stronger ATK buff based solely on her ATK. Additionally, players can force Iansan to gain Nightsoul points, as the Scale will the distance your characters, with the exception of Iansan, move, restoring Nightsoul points every second based on how much they moved. This should make Iansan a good partner for Varesa in Genshin Impact.
Ascension Materials To Farm For Iansan In Genshin Impact
You Can Optimize Some Of Your Farming Efforts
Before taking advantage of her gameplay kit, however, you will need to fully Ascend her and upgrade her Talents. This starts with farming Iansan’s Ascension materials. As an Electro character, Iansan uses Vajrada Amethyst stones, which drop primarily from Electro-aligned bosses. These drop from bosses like the Thunder Manifestation, Millennial Pearl Seahorse, Stormterror, Childe, and Raiden Shogun. However, I highly recommend farming Vajrada Amethyst stones from the Tenebrous Papilla: Type I boss in Genshin Impact. This is because your farming efforts will coincide with Iansan’s world boss material needs.
The table below lists all of Iansan’s Ascension materials, divided by level threshold, and condensed at the end:

The world boss material that Iansan consumes is called Ensnaring Gaze. Luckily, Ensaring Gaze drops exclusively from the Tenebrous Papilla: Type I boss in Natlan. As such, you can farm both this material and the Vajrada Amethyst materials simultaneously, saving not only time, but your daily Resin in Genshin Impact. A few copies of Ensnaring Gaze are needed, so you’ll likely be farming this boss repeatedly – however, at least, you won’t need to farm one set of items with one boss and the Ensnaring Gaze with another.
Another set of materials to farm for Iansan is composed of Sentry’s Wooden Whistle, Warrior’s Metal Whistle, and Saurian-Crowned Warrior’s Metal Whistle. These Whistle materials drop from Sauroform Tribal Warriors all across Natlan, so the best way of getting them is to defeat these humanoid enemies. To better locate the position of these enemies on the map, you can use the official Interactive Map on HoYoLAB. Keep in mind that these materials will also be used in large quantities for Iansan’s Talents, so don’t shy away from farming if you can spare the time.
Don’t forget to use the Alchemy Table in Genshin Impact to transform lower-grade items, such as three Sentry’s Wooden Whistle, into rarer ones, like one Warrior’s Metal Whistle. The same applies to the set of the Vajrada Amethyst stones, as well as the books used when leveling Iansan’s Talents.
Dracolite is the last material for Iansan’s Ascension. Dracolite is a Local Specialty from Natlan that was added with Version 5.5, alongside her release as a playable character, so it could not be pre-farmed. Dracolite can be farmed within the Atoan region in Natlan. As a Local Specialty, Dracolite has a 48-hour respawn timer, meaning you need to wait two full days in real life before being able to obtain more of it from the same node. I’d recommend using the Interactive Map to learn the location of every Dracolite node in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact 5.5: Should You Pull For Varesa If You Already Have Xiao?
Because of the similarities between Varesa and Xiao in Genshin Impact, players may be unsure about whether or not they pull for the new character.
Not a material per si, Mora is also consumed when working on Iansan’s Ascension. To simply get each of the Ascension level thresholds, you will spend 420,000 Mora and, if you level up Iansan with Character EXP Materials, the leveling process will consume an extra 1,673,400 Mora. To farm Mora quickly, I recommend challenging Blossom of Wealth activities. If you can do so within Natlan, you’ll also have a chance of encountering Sauroform Tribal Warriors in Genshin Impact, who can drop Whistle materials, thus optimizing your efforts and possibly even saving some time.
Talent Materials To Farm For Iansan In Genshin Impact
This Is The Most Expensive & Time-Consuming Upgrade Process
The Sentry’s Wooden Whistle, Warrior’s Metal Whistle, and Saurian-Crowned Warrior’s Metal Whistle are also used for Iansan’s Talent-leveling process. A lot of these will be required, so you may see yourself farming them for several days or even weeks if you don’t already have a supply. You can even get more Whistle materials from Paimon’s Bargains if you have the proper resources.
The table below lists all the materials required to fully upgrade all of Iansan’s Talents in Genshin Impact:
Iansan Talent Materials In Genshin Impact |

Guide to Contention |

Warrior's Metal Whistle |

Denial and Judgment |

Iansan uses the Contention books to upgrade her Talents. Teachings of Contention, Guide to Contention, and Philosophies of Contention can be farmed exclusively from the Blazing Ruins Domain on Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Because of the limitations imposed by day-specific farming rules, these may take a while to farm to completion. At more advanced Talent levels, Iansan will require Denial and Judgment, a weekly boss material dropped by The Knave boss in Genshin Impact.
For the final levels of each of her Talents, Iansan will consume a Crown of Insight, for a total of three Crowns of Insight. These rare Talent materials can be obtained as prizes for limited-time events, as well as reputation systems. You can also obtain one monthly Crown of Insight from Paimon’s Bargains if you have sufficient funds. To fuel the entire process, you will also need to use 4,957,500 Mora – as always, these can be farmed at Blossom of Wealth activities, preferably in Natlan in Genshin Impact.

I've Seen The Genshin Impact 5.5 Leaks, & I'm Convinced The Spiral Abyss Update Will Essentially Block The Best DPS Characters
The lineup for Spiral Abyss' Floor 12 starting in Genshin Impact 5.5 has leaked and, if true, it will make some of the best DPS characters unusable.
It’s always recommended to fully Ascend a character before working on their Talents, as Talent levels are blocked by the character’s level. By completing both processes, you can turn Iansan into a reliable unit, especially for characters who move around a lot; those who can help fuel her Kinetic Energy Scale mechanic in Genshin Impact.
