The deaths of the Sand Snakes in Game of Thrones season 7 were brutal but also very ironic. The Sand Snakes were the bastard daughters of Prince Oberyn Martell, and were introduced in Game of Thrones season 4 after his death. Even though there were eight of them, the story surrounding the Sand Snakes focused on the three eldest: Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene. They were very loyal to House Martell and led by Oberyn's lover, Ellaria Sand, the mother of Tyene and the younger bastard daughters.
Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene vowed to act revenge on the Lannisters. While pledging allegiance to Ellaria, they took out Prince Doran Martell, the head of the house at the time, to claim Dorne. Ellaria and her three Sand Snakes ed Daenerys Targaryen's claim to the Iron Throne and were prepared to stage a fight at King's Landing. Unfortunately, Cersei Lannister ended up getting the last laugh regarding the ongoing conflict between the families with the help of the Lord Reaper of Pyke, Euron Greyjoy. However, the way each of the three Sand Snakes died in Game of Thrones was particularly interesting.

Game of Thrones: 10 Things You Didn't Know About The Sand Snakes
HBO's take on Game of Thrones didn't give the Sand Snakes much fanfare, but it probably should have. Here are ten things you didn't know about them.
Obara Sand Was Stabbed By Her Own Spear
Euron Greyjoy Killed The First Sand Snake Using Her Own Polearm
The death of Obara Sands in Game of Thrones was one of the first times audiences got to witness just how brutal Euron Greyjoy could truly be. The Sand Snakes ed Yara Greyjoy on her quest to Sunspear, but the ship was ambushed by Euron and his Iron Fleet. After their ship was personally boarded by Euron's ship and his crew, the Sand Snakes quickly fought back against the raiders, with Obara soon finding Euron and attempting to put an end to one of Cersei Lannister's most useful allies once and for all.
Her death had an extra layer of irony beyond dying by her own weapon too, as Euron took time to watch her die, and it's hinted multiple times that Obara herself liked to watch her own victims suffer.
Obara, skilled with a spear, faced off with Euron directly during the fight onboard the ship. Unfortunately, while Obara was likely the more skilled and well-trained fighter, she was no match for his sheer ferocity and brute strength. He managed to get the upper hand and impaled Obara with her own spear, lifting her into the air while he howled with rage and bloodlust. Her death had an extra layer of irony beyond dying by her own weapon too, as Euron took time to watch her die, and it's hinted multiple times that Obara herself liked to watch her own victims suffer.
Nymeria Sand Was Hung With Her Own Bullwhip
Euron Greyjoy Used The Ship's Mast To Make Nym Into A Grizzly Trophy
Shortly after Obara was killed in the Game of Thrones season 7 episode "Stormborn", Euron turned next to her sister, Nymeria. Nym had been fighting Euron alongside Obara, ing her in the hopes that killing the leader of the Iron Fleet would put an end to the Greyjoy's allegiance with the Lannisters. However, just like her older sister, Nymeria proved to be no match for the ruthless Lord Reaper of Pyke.
Nymeria Sand was killed in a similar fashion to Obara in that Euron used the bullwhip that served as her main weapon to strangle her. However, not content with simply killing the second Sand Snake, Euron decided to make an example of Nymeria. After he strangled her, Euron then hung Nymeria's body from the ship's mast, turning her corpse into a grizzly trophy to his victory.

Game Of Thrones: 10 Things That Make No Sense About The Martells
The Martells of Dorne remain one of the biggest missed opportunities in Game of Thrones, which is why so much about them doesn't make sense.
Tyene Sand Was Killed With The Poison She Used On Myrcella Lannister
Cersei Got The Ultimate Revenge On Ellaria
Tyene Sand was the only one of the Sand Snakes who wasn't killed by Euron Greyjoy, but her death in the following Game of Thrones season 7 episode, "The Queen's Justice", still followed the trend of the Dornish warriors being killed by their own weapons. While her sisters stood their ground during the skirmish with the Iron Fleet, Tyene ran to protect Ellaria Sand, her mother and the head of the Sand Snakes.
Cersei had coated her lips in poison, giving Tyene the fatal dose of poison that ultimately killed her.
Rather than being killed by the King of the Iron Island, the two were captured and sent to King's Landing by Euron. Since Ellaria killed the daughter of Cersei, the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms finally got her chance at revenge. Tyene was known for being a master when it came to poisons, and since Ellaria used poison to kill Myrcella Lannister, Cersei did the same.
After Cersei spent some time mocking Ellaria in the dungeons of Kings Landing, she kissed Tyene. While this seemed strange at first, it quickly became apparent that Cersei had coated her lips in poison, giving Tyene the fatal dose of poison that ultimately killed her. To add to Ellaria's torment, Cersei had the mother and daughter chained on opposite walls of the same cell.
Ellaria had no choice but to helplessly watch her daughter die while Cersei simply looked on in amusement. Just as Nymeria and Obara's deaths demonstrated how ruthless Euron was, the death of Tyene Sand also reminded viewers just how callous, calculated, cunning, and cruel a presence in Game of Thrones Cersei remained.
