Disney Animation chief creative officer, Jennifer Lee, has been blown away by the development of Frozen 3. With Princesses Elsa and Anna separated all throughout their childhood, thanks to Elsa's unstable ice powers, 2010's Frozen saw the sisters finally come together as a family. The movie was a massive success for Disney, totaling $1.285 billion on a $150 million budget and winning two Academy Awards. Since then, Disney Animation produced Frozen II, which was even more successful at $1.453 billion on the same budget. Multiple shorts and TV shows have also been developed.

With so much success, Disney Animation is already producing the next sequel. Disney Animation chief creative officer Jennifer Lee, who also wrote and directed the original Frozen, spoke to those present at a BFI London Film Festival about the development of the Frozen 3. Variety reports that she was thrilled by the progress, though she has not had many opportunities to personally work on it so far. Check out her quote below:

Every morning last week they carved out space for me to work with the creative team on it, and I am blown away and I am so excited. I don’t know what I’m doing on it yet — I’m not doing nothing — except doing what I do now, which is we work on every project as a team and I’m in there with creative. But with ‘Frozen,’ just a little bit more.

Everything We Know About Frozen 3

So far, there has been little word on the development of Frozen 3. Outside of this report, Disney Animation has been closely guarding any secrets about the movie. There have, however, been word about which actors who will be reprising their roles as of the Frozen 3 cast. Kristen Bell is expected to be returning as Anna, Idina Menzel as Elsa, Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, and Josh Gad as Olaf. All have played leading roles in previous Frozen movies, leaving their return as no great surprise.

At the moment, there has been no confirmation about Frozen 3's release date. Given that Frozen II came six years after Frozen, the wait for Frozen 3 will likely be longer than its predecessor's own delay. In all likelihood, the Frozen sequel will be released something in 2026 or 2027, based on previous developmental timelines and ing for the delay in its announcement.

With so few updates on the movie's production, there have been no hints about the storyline. It is expected to follow the seeds planted in Frozen II, and there is always the possibility that Hans (Santino Fontana) could be making his return. Regardless of what the plot of Frozen 3 is, higher-ups at Disney Animation are excited by the movie and ready to see it continue development.
