Henry Almost Immediately Calls Out From's Mysterious Missing Motel Building

He Is Just As Observant As His Son

During his first day in Town, Henry notices the motel sign and that there is a pool nearby, but that there is no motel building. He shares this observation with Ethan Matthews (Simon Webster) and wonders aloud what happened to the motel building. No answers are provided, although his mention of the pool is a reminder of its existence, and teases Dale being encased in the pool after trying to travel through the faraway tree at the end of the episode.

Despite being a newcomer to the Town, Henry has already noticed and pointed out a mystery that has been present since the series' first episode. Just like his son, Victor, who is very observant about the Town and even the surrounding forest changing, Henry also has a keen eye for details that are out of place. Since the episode took the time for Henry to ask this question, it will likely be important in future episodes, whether in season 3 or in From season 4.

The Missing Motel Could Be Key To Discovering What From's Town Really Is

Could It Tie Into The Town's Origins?

The missing motel building may be a flaw in the Town's design. On the surface, the Town is supposed to appear ordinary during the day and is organized to look like an average small town, complete with a diner, a post office, and other familiar locations. The lack of a motel suggests that the design was not implemented correctly or fully. There have been theories that Victor, or another child, created the Town from their imagination. This could explain the missing motel, as a child could easily make the mistake of including a motel sign and pool, but forget to put the actual motel in.

However, when the Town was transformed, the motel may have been destroyed, as the Town was no longer a place to temporarily stay, and instead became a prison for those who dwelled there.

Another possibility is that the Town used to be normal before it became a place where people became trapped and From's brutal monsters emerged every night. Back then, there may have been a regular motel where travelers temporarily stayed. However, when the Town was transformed, the motel may have been destroyed, as the Town was no longer a place to temporarily stay, and instead became a prison for those who dwell there. The motel sign and pool may be a reminder of what the Town was before its transformation, making From's motel the key to unlocking several important secrets.
