WARNING! This article contains major SPOILERS for From's season 3 finale! One of the top complaints about the characters in From’s cast being led by Harold Perrineau and the show being executive produced by director Jack Bender and writer Jeff Pinkner, From has been seen as a “spiritual successor” to Lost. Honoring this connection with a horror focus, the sci-fi show also features an ensemble of trapped characters presented with increasingly complex mysteries about and connections to the primary location.

However, with the sheer number of mysteries introduced in almost every episode, some frustrations are created for the audiences at home through the characters’ communications. Namely, that they don’t communicate nearly enough. Throughout From, those trapped in Fromville have experienced horrifying visions, made impossible discoveries, and become obsessed with certain inexplicable aspects of the location. But, the problem is that they rarely ever talk about these mysteries or discoveries with each other, which often prevents them from being solved or useful. Thankfully, From season 3’s twist-filled finale brings an end to this series-long issue.

From's Characters Finally Talking About Their Supernatural Experiences Fixes A Series-Long Complaint

It Took Too Long To Solve Mysteries Because Characters Were Keeping Their Experiences To Themselves

After almost three full seasons of the characters generally failing to discuss their supernatural experiences in Fromville, the residents finally pool their knowledge in From’s season 3 finale. From season 2’s ending left much of the town shaken after Julie, Randall, and Marielle’s experiences with the music box monster, Jade’s revelations about Christopher and the “Anghkooey” kids in the tunnel, and Tabitha’s escape from Fromville back into the real world. So, when From season 3 returned and the characters avoided breaking down each of their experiences, it became frustrating as a viewer.

From's bottle trees and the numbers inside the bottles have been one of the show's major mysteries, which is now answered in the season 3 finale.

Julie and Randall refused to talk about the lingering effects of their torture in the dungeons, with Randall also failing to tell others when the cicada sounds returned in season 3. Meanwhile, Jade didn’t open up to the others in town about seeing From's “Anghkooey” kids in the tunnels or discovering the symbol’s formation in the tree roots there. Similarly, Elgin didn’t confide in others about the Kimono Woman’s ghost that tried drowning him, with Julie later opting not to tell anyone what really happened when she returned to the dungeons.

So many of these discoveries are connected in From, but they require the details from others’ experiences to get a holistic understanding of what’s at play.

So many of From’s mysteries and supernatural occurrences have been intertwined, but many characters have been missing the crucial information they need from others in order to properly solve them. For instance, if Jade and Tabitha had disclosed the truth about their visions, visits to the tunnels, and similarities to Christopher and Miranda earlier, then they could have put the pieces together far earlier than the season 3 finale. Additionally, Julie could have understood the truth about her time-traveling ability sooner if she had simply confided in Ethan before the finale.

As a relief, however, From’s characters finally do, in fact, talk and share what they’ve experienced in the season 3 finale. Sara relates the voices she’s heard to Elgin, Ethan reveals that Julie is a “story walker,” Tabitha and Jade realize their true connections to the “Anghkooey” kids, and Fatima discloses what she saw about the history of From’s nocturnal monsters. So many of these discoveries are connected in From, but they require the details from others’ experiences to get a holistic understanding of what’s at play.

From's Season 3 Finale Solved Numerous Mysteries Once The Characters Started Sharing Experiences

It Took The Experiences Of Many To Connect The Dots

The Smiley Creature being reborn in From season 3 finale

As expected, From finally solved some of the show’s biggest mysteries once the characters began sharing their experiences. Tabitha and Jade realized they’re reincarnations of Miranda and Christopher, and found that in their original lifetimes, one of the murdered “Anghkooey” kids was their daughter. That realization never would have happened if Jim hadn’t gone to Jade and asked for his help following Tabitha’s vision about Miranda’s death. Similarly, Boyd wouldn’t have discovered the truth about the Smiley Monster’s resurrection if Fatima hadn’t told him what she saw during labor.

Exploring the mystery of the Man in Yellow will be more difficult due to the fact that the only characters who see him in From's season 3 finale are Jim, who dies, and Julie, who is from the future at that moment.

From’s season 3 finale answers far more mysteries than anticipated, and it’s because the community is actually working together to analyze their findings and experiences. There’s still plenty more that needs to be figured out among the characters, which includes discovering the true purpose of the root cellar’s back room and learning who the Man in Yellow is and what his role is in Fromville. Before From’s season 3 finale, it would have been expected that another season or two would before solving those mysteries, but this new change in the community working together suggests answers will come soon.

From Season 4 Needs To Continue The Town Working Together To Piece Together Their Horrors

From Season 4 Can't Return To The Characters Keeping Their Experiences Secret

By talking to each other, From’s characters solved a huge problem that was holding them back from discovering the truth prior to the season 3 finale. Given how satisfying many of these revelations were, From season 4 has to keep up this momentum by involving the entire town – not just the main players. Those who live in town have still hardly discussed their experiences with those living at the Colony House, so bringing them all together in From season 4 to break down what they still don’t understand may be crucial to connecting even more dots in Fromville’s nightmare labyrinth.
