The Town's Dangers Are Growing More Unpredictable

Although he often butted heads with other of Colony House, the belligerent resident was one of the most determined to get home. His death also confirms the Faraway Trees can now teleport residents anywhere in town, including getting them stuck inside different structures. While they seemed to have a connection to the Boy in White, who led various characters to use them in order to get to safety throughout the show, Dale's fate now makes them extremely dangerous. This adds to the horrifying events culminating in From season 3, including Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) craving rotten food and blood during her pregnancy, and the monsters targeting Boyd (Perrineau) after he killed one of them in season 2.

While Dale's belligerent attitude often led to trouble in Colony House, like the time he accidentally stabbed Ellis (Corteon Moore), his determination was still a key factor of his character. To have him die in such a brutal fashion shows how much more dangerous the town is becoming with every ing day, hinting that events will reach a breaking point very soon.
