In From season 2, episode 8’s climactic ending, Boyd burns the monster’s body, another resident’s tragic death is teased, and Randall ties up Donna in the woods. As From season 2 inches closer to its finale, the growing mysteries and tensions in the town are reaching a catastrophic climax.
Victor Had A Sister: Her Death & Coloring Backstory Explained
The most shocking revelation in From season 2, episode 8 is that Victor had a sister who seemingly died when he was a child. From has long been teasing a violent purge in the town from when Victor was young, and season 2 is gradually working toward revealing the truth of the incident. One flashback depicted young Victor holding his lunchbox while walking through the town alone to see bodies around him, with his comments about Christopher suggesting that the man in Jade’s photo committed mass murder. From season 2, episode 8’s flashback to the event gives more evidence for this twist, as Victor’s mom attempted to hide him and his sister Eloise in a location that Christopher didn’t know about.
The reveal of Victor’s sister makes his hidden backstory all the more tragic, as the young character was tasked with protecting Eloise while their mother went to help save other children. After their mother left, Eloise was scared and ran outside to chase after her, hinting that she died alongside the rest of the town that night. From season 2, episode 8 also reveals that their mother had actually been telling Eloise to draw a picture with her crayons while waiting for her return, not Victor. This means that Eloise was the one who was originally more artistic, but Victor took over this hobby after her presumed death, likely due to his guilt.
From Season 2’s Music Box Enters Two More Dreams
A new mystery explored throughout From season 2 is the music box, which the character of From star Harold Perrineau originally saw in the place where Martin was chained. The music box and its ballerina have since been recurring in the dreams of From’s characters, which now includes Elgin and Kenny. At the end of Kenny’s dream in From season 2, episode 8, he sees the music box playing on the table while cicadas are boiling in water. Meanwhile, Elgin’s dream from the previous episode featured the music box playing on the sink.
In both cases, the music box playing preceded a horrifying element of their dream that crossed over into real life, including Elgin coughing up water and Kenny having a burn from the cicada. However, From season 2, episode 8 still doesn’t answer what the music box really means, where it came from, and why it only appears in some characters’ visions. The music box and the ballerina are apt to continue appearing in Boyd’s visions the most, who will presumably reveal its purpose before From’s season 2 finale.
Kenny's Vision Of The Bugs & Cryptic Phone Call Explained
From season 2, episode 8 kicks off with Kenny dreaming about his mother boiling something in the kitchen when their telephone rings. As From’s characters have often confirmed to new arrivals, the telephone lines in the town don’t actually work. However, when Kenny answers the ringing phone in his house, a mysterious voice repeats the words, “They touch, they break, they steal. No one here is free. Here they come, they come for three, unless you stop the melody.” This odd riddle appears to be referring to From’s music box, as Martin had previously warned Boyd that he had to get out of the cave “before the music stops.”
Since the characters’ visions are grounded in the show’s mysteries and the town’s past, it appears that the phrase uttered over the phone comes from a previous resident. On the other hand, it could be connected to the voice heard on the radio in From season 1’s ending, perhaps confirming Jim’s theory that someone is watching and experimenting on them. Ultimately, it seems that the music box, the bugs, and the voices heard over the phone and radio are all connected as an ominous warning.
How Eloise's Drawing Connects To Tabitha's Vision In From Season 2, Episode 8
As Tabitha continues to look for answers about the burned children she sees in her visions, Victor aids her search with pictures that his sister Eloise had drawn. At the end of From season 2, episode 8, Tabitha finds one drawing that appears to be a lighthouse, which connects back to the structure that Boyd saw deep in the woods at the end of season 1. Victor says that his mother had gone to this location the night that the “bad things happened” in order to save the children locked in the tower. The bottom of the drawing also appears to show the “tower” burning, suggesting that Victor’s mom perished at the lighthouse alongside the children in Tabitha’s visions.
Did Christopher Kill Everyone When Victor Was A Kid? What Jade's Visions Of Him Mean For The Town
Like Tabitha, Jade has been using Victor’s memories to uncover the truth about the people he sees in his visions. Jade sees Christopher, the man in the old Polaroid featuring young Victor. Adult Victor suggests that Christopher was once a source of fun and humor for the community, but became dark and more dangerous after obsessing over the symbol that Jade keeps seeing. From season 2’s flashbacks to the night that the “bad things happened” also suggest that Christopher killed the rest of the town, which could mean that the mysterious forces are sending Jade down the same violent path. If so, From season 2’s ending may include a tragic massacre at Jade’s hands.
Will The Bile Bullets Work Against The Monsters?
The mystery of what the monsters actually are in From is slowly being solved, with season 2 revealing that their human masks are internal as well. When Kristi opens the body of the monster that Boyd killed, she finds that it has human anatomy, only it’s all shriveled and devoid of blood or fluid. However, when the frustrated Kristi stabs the monster’s organs, she opens the gallbladder and finds that it’s full of bile. In “Forest for the Trees,” Boyd and Kenny inexplicably find cicadas crawling out of the monster’s corpse. Donna then makes them burn the body, though From season 2, episode 8’s ending doesn’t reveal whether this actually destroyed the monster.
Around the same time, Boyd comes up with the idea to make “bile bullets” as a possible weakness for the monsters. Similar to silver bullets against vampires, Boyd wants to cover bullets in the bile from the monsters’ gallbladders, suggesting that their own fluids could be their undoing. It’s still unclear why Boyd’s blood and the worm inside his arm killed the monster, but the residents are apt to exhaust any potential threat to the monsters that they can find.
Did Someone Just Die In From Season 2, Episode 8's Ending?
From season 2, episode 8’s ending also sets up another twist for the sophomore season’s penultimate installment. As Boyd and Kenny walk back into town, they find a resident running out of his home screaming and covered in blood. While he's yelling that he needs help, From’s characters hear the sound of the cicadas loudly chirping. It seems that whoever was living in the house with him has died, though it’s unclear how considering it’s still daylight. When From season 2, episode 9 begins, chaos is bound to ensue as sunset turns to nightfall and the town’s nightmares are already attacking.
Is Randall Going To Kill Donna Because Of Jim's Theory?
Another horrifying twist in From season 2, episode 8’s ending is that Randall has tied Donna to a tree in the woods. Randall and Jim have been working by the RV in the woods to try to find a signal and uncover their conspiracy about the town being a set-up. The two believe that the town could be an experiment in which people are watching them, that the experimenters are sending in nightmarish creatures and events to see how they would react, and that some residents may actually be in on it. While Jim was already taking their accusations too far when questioning Sara about Nathan’s fate, Randall is making it worse by seemingly attempting to torture Donna for information.
Randall and Donna have had conflict ever since the bus arrived and the engers were unloaded, with Randall’s conspiracy theory potentially leading him to kill Donna. When Jim arrives at the RV in From season 2, episode 8, Randall is also holding a knife that he seemingly intends to use on her in order to get her to confirm their theory about the town being a set-up. However, Jim is apt to realize that Randall is dangerous to the other residents’ safety, so he could end up saving Donna while leaving Randall to the horrors of the night instead.
