Friday the 13th remains one of the most iconic franchises in the slasher movie genre, and the best part about watching these movies is seeing the kills. There might not be anyone like Jason Voorhees when it comes to creative kills, as each movie tried to one-up the ones that came before in both the setup to the slayings and the method in which the victims died.

Over the movie's long-running franchise, which included a reboot in 2009, Jason killed well over 100 victims. The only movies without Jason were the first, where his mother was a killer, and the fifth, with an imposter. However, in the other movies, Jason had some of the best kills of any slasher villain, the best taking a creative step in adding panache to the kill.

While Friday the 13th is a franchise built around a specific date, it is also one of the best movies to watch during the Halloween season. While there is no new movie coming in the franchise at this time, the spooky season is always a great time to revisit Jason Voorhees and his rampages. From the first series of movies, that started out with Jason's mother as the killer, to the spin-off with Freddy Krueger and the remake in 2009, there are several amazing kills for horror fans to enjoy. In a franchise that is all about the best kills, there are plenty in this franchise to choose from.

Killing The Coroner - Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter

Jason kills the coroner in Friday the 13th The Final Chapter

In Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Jason's dead body started the movie in a coroner's office. Of course, this is a Friday the 13th movie, so Jason can't be dead. His resurrection wasn't as cool as other movies, but it was because of the cold as he was revived in the cold storage.

Once Jason was back, it was time to start killing again. However, before he could return to Camp Crystal Lake, he needed to dispose of that pesky coroner. While the knife slice to the throat was gruesome enough, Jason one-upped it by twisting the man's neck around until it was facing the other way. He then compacted his spine and left him with the other dead bodies in the room.

Crushing Rick's Head - Friday the 13th Part III

The kills from Friday the 13th Part III could make up an entire list of Jason's best kills. This was where Jason really began to come into his own and the director really came up with some gnarly death scenes for the franchise.

This specific scene saw Chris and Rick end up stranded when their car dies. They head into the cabin, and it has been destroyed. Chris, who Jason already attacked in her past, is left alone as Rick goes outside to look around. The death then happens while Chris is looking for Rick, and Jason grabs the boy by his head and crushes his head, with his eyes popping out of the skull. Thanks to the 3D, this ended up as a standout scene for the franchise.

Steam Room Death - Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan

Sometimes, the deaths don't have to be overly dramatic or over-the-top to really leave a mark. In Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan, Jason gets to kill people away from the lake. This included a poor guy lying in the steam room.

This scene was horrific because it was very realistic. Jason walked into the steam room while the guy was lying down, a wet towel on his face. Jason then took the heated rocks and pushed it into the guy's chest. As it singed and burned a hole through his midsection, the kill was just squeamish enough to keep people from closing their eyes in steam rooms for a very long time.

Roasting Over An Open Fire - Friday The 13th (2009)

In the 2009 remake of Friday the 13th, the franchise did what few other remakes of that era did well. It took what worked well in the first movies, and replicated it for a new generation. One of the best kills in this movie was also one of the cruelest that Jason ever did.

The murders were back at the lake, and in this scene, Jason replicated the sleeping bag scene to horrific effects. In the original sleeping bag scene, Jason just bashed the girl against a tree. In this one, he hung the sleeping bag over the campfire and the girl inside burned to death while screaming. It was a terrifying moment for viewers.

Ripping Out A Heart - Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives

The first kill in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives was brutal and iconic and remains one of the best in the franchise's history. This came after the fifth movie, where an imposter Jason was killing people. Now, the real Jason was back and was ready to reclaim his throne.

Tommy and his best friend Allen go to dig up Jason's grave to burn the body. A lightning strike brings Jason back from the dead and he kills Allen by ripping out his heart. What makes this kill so great was that after he died, Allen falls into Jason's casket and the lid closes on him, with Jason back and ready to kill again. It was a new start in one of the best-rated Friday the 13th movies in the franchise.

Folded In Half - Freddy Vs. Jason

In Freddy vs. Jason, the Crystal Lake killer made his way to Elm Street and started killing kids there, as Freddy used Jason's nightmares to try to get his murders to make people think the Dream Master was back. There was at least one that made it look like something Freddy could do and it was gruesome.

Jason went into a house where a guy was with his girlfriend. However, while she was in the bathroom, Jason stabbed the guy repeatedly in the back until his heart came out and then he folded him up in a bed for her to find. The visuals of him folded the wrong way remained something viewers would never forget.

Killing Mark Jarvis - Friday The 13th Part 2

One of the cruelest kills is also one of the most memorable. Most of the time, Jason kills teenagers and young adults who are doing something bad, whether promiscuous or otherwise immoral. In the case of Mark Jarvis in Friday the 13th Part 2, he never deserved his death.

Mark was in a wheelchair and that created one of the most lingering visuals in a Friday the 13th movie. He was on the patio in his wheelchair when Jason showed up and used his best weapon, the machete, to kill him. What happened next is what made the kill so incredible. Mark, in his wheelchair, rolled backward down the stairs in the rain, flipping over in the end.

Launched Into A Tree - Freddy Vs. Jason

Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child appeared in Freddy vs. Jason and she ended up in one of the movie's best kills. The movie was unique because it had Freddy Krueger lead Jason to Elm Street to start killing so people would start to believe in him again.

However, Jason was killing without abandon, so his deaths were nothing like anyone saw from Freddy. The best kill in the movie came when he killed Rowland's character. She was fighting Jason with all she had and then he just got tired of his and hit her so hard with a machete that she flew across the field and crashed into a tree. It was just a brutal and devastating kill.

Pinned To A Truck - Friday The 13th (2009)

There was a lot to like about the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot, but it didn't make enough money to continue on. There were, however, some great kills in the movie. One of the best came when a guy named Trent thought he was going to escape, similar to how The Texas Chain Saw Massacre ended.

Trent ran into a road and tried to wave down a truck. He was almost hit and then as he approached the stopped truck, Jason grabbed him and killed him with his machete through the chest. What made this one of the best kills happened next. Jason slammed him into the haybale and the truck drove off with the dead body twitching as Jason watched on.
