Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Found season 2, episode 12.

Found season 2, episode 12, titled "Missing While Misidentified", flashes between the past and present, detailing the night Sir was first brought to Gabi's basement. While she had initially intended to kill her abductor, a discovery about Jamie highlights Sir's usefulness. The public relations specialist realizes that he can provide insight into the mind of a kidnapper, which will help Mosely & Associates find missing people faster.

In the present day, Gabi and Sir have both been arrested for their crimes. However, in what comes as a shock to Trent, Sir claims that Gabi has been falsely accused. Because he refuses to it the truth about his captivity, the police have no choice but to release Gabi from custody. The episode ends with Sir finally behind prison bars, but a harrowing shot implies that Mark-Paul Gosselaar's character can't be counted out just yet.

Sir Never Wanted Gabi To Take The Fall In Found Season 2

"It's not what he intended, so he needed to do something to right the ship, in a way."

Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Sir in Found season 2, episode 12

ScreenRant: We find out that Jamie's case is actually what started this partnership, for lack of a better word, between Sir and Gabi. Were you surprised he tied everything together?

Shanola Hampton: I personally had no idea. I'm always surprised when I read the scripts to find out how they got there, and we got to do a lot of that this season, which has been really, really cool to see. So I was definitely surprised.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar: Yeah, same. I think most of the cast is surprised whenever we get these scripts. We're along for the ride just like the audience is.

In present day, Gabi has been released, and Sir claims that Gabi never kidnapped him. Does he still want to protect her in some way? Where is Sir's head at?

Mark-Paul Gosselaar: I don't think he ever intended for her to take the fall for anything that happened. I think he was very disappointed that Heavy Boots did this, so he's asserting his control. It's not what he intended, so he needed to do something to right the ship, in a way.

He's going to have limited control for the rest of the season because of the position that he's in, but he's still a part of the conversation. That's all that matters for him. He just needs those little moments, sort of like during season 1 in the basement.

That final shot of him in jail made me feel like Sir is right where he wants to be. I can't help but think that everything is a part of Sir's plan. What else can you tease now that he's behind official bars?

Mark-Paul Gosselaar: I think exactly what I said before—that he's in another basement. It's going to be a little bit more difficult to control the narrative for him, but he'll do his best, but this was inevitable. There was going to be a moment where he wouldn't be on the run forever, but you'll just see a different dynamic between Sir and Gabi this season.

It actually makes room for more storytelling on the other side as well. We're going to know more about the other characters. We're going to know about Margaret and some of the other M&A people. So by putting Sir in a specific place, we know that he's there, and then we can tell different stories at the same time.

Gabi And Dhan Don't Trust That Jamie Is Who He Claims To Be

"They want it so badly for Margaret, but they don't want her to be disappointed again."

Parker Daniel Queenan as Jamie in Found season 2, episode 12

Jamie doesn't have the mole on his elbow. Does that confirm for Gabi that he isn't who he claims to be?

Shanola Hampton: I think that it's making her feel like it's probably not him, because they're just looking for any clues, because they want it so badly for Margaret, but they don't want her to be disappointed again. And so Gabi is in a position right now where she truly does not trust Jamie out of protection for Margaret.

How is she going to approach this with Margaret? It's a very sensitive situation. Plus, Sir claimed to have information about Jamie.

Shanola Hampton: It's so hard because Margaret and Gabi's relationship has been rocky, and so they're just now getting back to whatever their new normal is. So Gabi definitely doesn't want to add more friction, but she also loves and wants to protect. So how to approach it is to get as much proof as possible before approaching it. And that's what I think she and Dhan are trying to do.

We know that Sir has an accomplice, but we don't know who. Are you able to say whether it's someone we've seen before? Do we know the character?

Shanola Hampton: I don't even know if we find out who his accomplice is this season. I mean, do we even know? These are all questions. Found—does it answer them by the end of the season?

Mark-Paul Gosselaar: I'm just thinking about Jamie. We won't know. And as actors, we didn't know until we would read the script. I mean, every week we would sit there going, "Wait, is Jamie for real? Is this actor going to be around for a while?"

So there are a lot of questions that aren't answered right until the end, and that's by design. The writers have done a phenomenal job with this season, making sure that all those loose ends are going to be tied at the end, and then some loose ends will remain.

Hampton Feels It Was Important To Show The Impact Of Gabi's Father's Death

"To give an explanation, not a justification, but an explanation, to where her mindset was during that time, I thought was beautiful."

Shanola Hampton as Gabi Mosely in Found season 2, episode 12

Because we had some flashbacks, we did get to see the aftermath of Gabi’s father’s death and how deeply that affected her. Shanola, what was it like to go through as Gabi?

Shanola Hampton: That's the beauty of being able to come back for another season. I thought it was so important to show that considering everyone's views of why she did what she did all through season 1. The debate is going back and forth. So to see the impact and to sort of give an explanation, not a justification, but an explanation to where her mindset was during that time, I thought was beautiful.

This is the advantage that NBC has given us with 22 episodes. We're able to flesh out all of these stories and get the answers that we're looking for and not feel rushed to get there. And that's been a beautiful thing and that's what's beautiful about network TV. We have more than eight episodes to tell you a story.

Mark-Paul, Christian wasn't in the episode, but I do want to get your take on where Sir stands with him. Is there a genuine love for his brother?

Mark-Paul Gosselaar: I think there is love somewhere there, but I've said this before, that most of Sir's emotions and every thought is directed towards Gabi. So there's not a lot of room for other emotions to emote from Sir. But yeah, I believe that growing up, he protected Christian. But again, that was before he met Gabrielle.

This episode made it very clear that Gabi does not need Sir to solve these cases—he just helps speed up the process. Is that something she'll still take into consideration with Sir in prison?

Shanola Hampton: I don't think she would ever want to work with Sir. That's not a thing for her. Sir inserts himself. He does it intentionally, one because he wants to be, "I'm helping you." The other thing is to give her that self-doubt of, "Can you do this without me?"

And I think that she still battles with questioning because she knows her brilliance, but one of the reasons why she is so brilliant is from Sir's teaching. So it's a real complex thing that she's going through when it comes to solving the cases and believing in herself to be able to do it without him.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar: And you're not the only one solving the cases too. Sir will start feeding on people besides Gabrielle that need help.
