There have been rumors that Obi-Wan’s former apprentice-turned-arch-nemesis Darth Vader would be ing him in Fortnite as part of the ongoing Chapter 3, fueled by screenshots from April’s Epic Games State of Unreal showcase that contained a coded hint at the Dark Lord’s name and a brief image of Vader locked in combat with his old mentor during the Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 2 finale late last week. An image of Darth Vader’s Fortnite skin was also leaked on social media a few days ago, providing even more evidence that the galaxy’s most feared Sith Lord would soon make his presence known on the Island.

While Darth Vader is only now ing Fortnite’s ever-growing roster of playable guest characters today, the fallen persona of the once-heroic Jedi Anakin Skywalker has been featured in video games for decades. Many of these Star Wars gaming appearances have Vader as the final boss that players are tasked with defeating, though one of his most recent video game roles in 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order instead had fans escape the fearsome Dark Lord in an intense sequence on the ocean moon of Nur. Other recent Star Wars video games to feature Darth Vader include LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and the recently re-released Star Wars: The Force Unleashed on the Nintendo Switch.

Darth Vader has also recently returned to the live-action medium as well, with both Hayden Christensen and James Earl Jones reprising their shared role as the Dark Lord sought brutal vengeance against his old Master in the aforementioned Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Now Fortnite players will finally be able to unleash the power of the Dark Side as the dreaded Darth Vader as part of the new Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3: Vibin’ content, which is now live starting today.
