Darth Vader's iconic voice, which was performed by the late James Earl Jones, has been added to Fortnite's newest Star Wars crossover, replacing Darth Vader Samurai. If he's recruited, he can be voice chatted with like a real person by pressing a special Darth Vader button. The Dark Lord has all kinds of answers to player questions, but some fans were able to get him to respond with "sentence enhancers."

According to the Fortnite website, players can now voice chat with Darth Vader, and he'll respond back in Jones voice using an AI chatbot. Per the website, Jones's family is in of the feature, stating:

"James Earl felt that the voice of Darth Vader was inseparable from the story of Star Wars, and he always wanted fans of all ages to continue to experience it. We hope that this collaboration with Fortnite will allow both longtime fans of Darth Vader and newer generations to share in the enjoyment of this iconic character." - The family of James Earl Jones

But of course, fans wasted no time having unhinged fun with this feature, as he was able to swear at the player if prompted correctly (via Kotaku). Cordial on X managed to get a video clip of Darth Vader swearing. Fortnite responded to the clip on X, and the developers have confirmed a hot-fix has been implemented, and this should not happen again.

Epic Says It Fixed Darth Vader's Coarse Language

But People Are Still Trying

With Fortnite being one of the most popular and one of the most streamed games on Twitch, several streamers were able to get clips of the AI saying naughty and even offensive things. While Epic Games has stated they have removed the inappropriate language from the popular game, it seems like fans are still trying to get him to respond in an unbecoming way. Players have shared clips online of Vader sharing his thoughts on everything, from memes to the very concept of Five Nights At Freddy's.

Fan responses are all over the place, with some finding the unexpected Vader responses humorous, others finding them offensive, and others questioning if a Darth Vader AI was a good idea at all. X Star Wars season saw a lot of leaks, but it seems like this addition caught everyone off guard.

Star Wars Has Done This Before

James Earl Jones' Voice Is Irreplaceable

With both Lucasfilm and James Earl Jones' family approving of the use of AI to replicate the iconic Darth Vader voice, it shouldn't be a surprise that AI is becoming more and more common with the character. Darth Vader's lines in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show were delivered by AI, which opened up a discussion among fans, voice actors, and several entertainment industries about whether AI could replace voice acting.

The use of AI has existed in video games since their inception, virtually. AI has only gotten better and has led to some of the beloved video game creations. However, replacing some personal and ionate aspects of game creation and film with AI, like voice actors, would most of the time not be a wise move, from a PR point of view and a fan point of view. The voice of Darth Vader seems to be an exception, though, as his appearance in Fortnite is creating a lot of entertainment and excitement around an irreplaceable voice.
