Five years after releasing For Honor's new-gen upgrades for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S arrived.
The new-gen boosts were accessible to players following the release of the consoles themselves. Notably, the upgrades improved water reflections and shadow resolutions, enhanced texture filtering, and added 4K visuals for on PS5 and Xbox Series X. (Xbox Series S runs the action title at a resolution of 1080p.) The start of Year 4 Season 4, which went live in December 2020, also unlocked 60fps gameplay capabilities on the newer consoles. Of course, For Honor faithful specifically expressed an interest in hearing about Ubisoft's plans for crossplay , so many will be pleased to learn the way for such information has finally come to an end.
In a recent development update outlining Year 6: Lost Horizons, long-awaited crossplay feature. The functionality will launch in two different phases, the first of which goes live for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms on Thursday, March 17. In phase one, s can expect the three player pools to become unified for matchmaking, meaning the wait to hop into a game should be significantly reduced. Phase two lacks a firm due date but will allow players to enjoy games with friends regardless of their platform of choice.
As noted above, combining all three player pools in phase one should work wonders for reducing the time it takes to matchmake, thereby improving upon the overall online experience. It is worth noting, however, that while crossplay applies to For Honor's PvP and PvE game modes, it will not function with the following: Arcade Mode, Campaign Mode, Custom Match (Phase 1 only), Rank Mode, and Training Mode. Meanwhile, those who have no interest in crossplay whatsoever will be able to opt-out starting March 17 by visiting the 'Online' tab in the Settings menu.
Ubisoft originally released For Honor on PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms in February 2017, offering PvP and PvE action that allowed s to assume the role of Knights, Samurai, Vikings, and Wu Lin warriors. Ubisoft has continued to the title in the years since then, with season content updates that seem to keep many players regularly coming back for more.
For Honor is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
