The Flash. The long-running CW series is heading into season 7, which will premiere in 2021. The Flash season 6 was a big one for the show, as it featured Crisis on Infinite Earths, the massive crossover event. Leading up to it, Barry Allen came to with the prediction he would disappear during Crisis, though that didn't come to . The remainder of season 6 saw Team Flash deal with the fallout from the event, while also battling Eva McCulloch, the new Mirror Master. Unfortunately, production shut down early due to the coronavirus, leaving the season three episodes shy of its original order. This also means the first part of season 7 will be devoted to tying up lose ends.
Following Arrowverse heroes.
In an interview with viewers may see Jay back on the show:
I know Jay Garrick is coming back to the CW show, but they were supposed to be at a further point in the story. They didn’t get to play out the end of season six because of COVID as we know, so they’ve got to tie up some things. Eric Wallace has said that he does want to talk to me about some ideas about Jay Garrick going forward.
Shipp further shared he has every confidence in The Flash writers, while also expressing his hope to return sooner rather than later:
We know that Joan (Williams-Garrick) and Jay are on Earth Prime. We’ll see what they come up with. My experience with this group is that they’ve given you every reason to have faith that whatever they come up with is going to be interesting and you’re going to want to play it...I’m just waiting to see. They need to hurry up though because I’m not getting any younger.
Based on Shipp's comments, there isn't a concrete timetable for when Jay will return. As the actor notes, the show still needs to finish out the season 6 storylines before it can begin new ones. The Flash season 7 will reportedly begin filming this week, which shows things are moving in the right direction. With any luck, Shipp will be able to return in the first half of the season. At that time, viewers will finally learn what Jay and Joan experienced during Crisis on Infinite Earths.
In addition to solving that mystery, it will be nice to see Barry interact with his mentor again. Crisis was extremely taxing on the hero, and he's since dealt with his wife, Iris West-Allen, getting trapped in the Mirrorverse. Even though Iris will be freed at the beginning of season 7, Barry could use Jay's help coming to with everything that happened. Hopefully, that's exactly what viewers see when Shipp makes his long-awaited return to The Flash.
