Spoilers for The Flash: The One-Minute War Special #1 by DC ComicsA fan-favorite speedster is back in the pages of The Flash, as Godspeed makes his surprise return in the pages of DC Comics. In The Flash: The One-Minute War Special #1 by DC Comics, the issue ends with the revelation Godspeed is alive and helping The Flash heroes take down the villainous speedster alien threats currently trying to destroy Earth for its resources.
In The Flash: The One Minute War Special #1 by Jeremy Adams, Fernando Pasarin, Matt Ryan, Jason Paz, Matt Herms, and Rob Leigh, readers learn more about The Fraction and how the aliens developed speedster technology, forcing them to destroy other planets and worlds in order to keep the power for themselves. As The Fraction's troops attack Earth, a mysterious force begins to kill them, violently taking out several soldiers, before revealing themselves as Godspeed, one of the coolest and most powerful Flash heroes (and villains) whose status in the DC Universe was largely unknown in the current timeline.
Who Is Godspeed, And Where Has He Been?
Godspeed, whose real name was August Heart, was a close ally with Barry Allen, as he worked alongside him as part of the Central City Police Department. However, after a near-deadly accident during an investigation, August was given Speed Force powers, which he used to get revenge on his brother's killer. Godspeed would spar with Barry Allen's Flash before sharing he was fighting on his side. Unfortunately, Godspeed would die at the hands of the Reverse-Flash - however, the character has been teased as still being alive, which has finally come full circle in the DC Universe.
So, how is Godspeed back? Considering The Flash's powers are rooted in the Speed Force and time travel, there are several possible explanations for his return. Godspeed could have been resurrected after his death battling the Reverse-Flash, which was hinted before. However, it's also possible this version of Godspeed is from the far future and is returning to present-day knowing he plays a vital role in the defeat of the Fraction.
Regardless of how DC Comics explains Godspeed's return, seeing the coolest version of The Flash make a surprise comeback is a welcome development. Godspeed was always a character with a lot of potential, making his story previously getting short a bit frustrating for readers. However, now that he's back in the One-Minute War, Godspeed gets another chance to prove what a great hero and speedster he truly is. The Flash: The One-Minute War Special #1 by DC Comics is in comic book stores now.
