Gwydo is a somewhat challenging secondary boss in The First Berserker: Khazan, and he is a re-skinned version of the Maluca boss that gave you a ton of trouble earlier in the game. Gwydo's move set mirrors Maluca's in many ways, but primarily from Maluca's second stage. Like Maluca, Gwydo uses a katana and a set of greatswords, but primarily focuses his attacks with the katana. Gwydo's glowing katana will give you flashbacks to the Maluca fight and his ridiculous teleporting move, but now that you've had practice, it's a little more manageable.

You'll recognize many of the moves from special crafting materials or even any unique crafting set pieces, so you'll end up getting the same random drops as you did from Maluca.

How To Defeat Gwydo In Khazan

Brink Guard, Reflection, & Sustained Combos

The best approach to defeating Gwydo is similar to that taken in defeating Maluca, but you'll need to re-familiarize yourself with the pacing and timing of his nearly-identical moves, while also learning what to look for in his new attacks. Gwydo's main move to look out for is a retreating slash counterattack that he employs on the regular. You'll want to be careful in how you charge him, as these can be quite devastating to both stamina and health.

The First Berserker: Khazan - How To Beat Elamein (Boss Guide)

Elamein was once a close ally in The First Berserker: Khazan, but Khazan ultimately needs to take her on in a duel that requires some strategy.

Because he has a few very slow-swinging moves that he uses often, Gwydo is another prime candidate for the reflection skill in First Berserker: Khazan, as well as perfect guards and counterattacks. When he gears up to swing his greatswords, you'll know it's time to reflect, but watch out for the unblockable spinning attack as that can only be dodged. As with Maluca, Gwydo's katana will glisten as he's about to teleport strike you, so you can similarly time this out to hit him with a reflection to interrupt repeated slices.

Consider upgrading your Reflection skills in the Common menu to deal more damage and increase the window for success.

Be sure to avoid his slicing move where he re-sheathes his katana and the chaos energy slices you up, and also watch out for thrust projectiles. These are also a Maluca staple, but Gwydo will resort to these more often and will attempt to do about seven or eight of them sometimes. These can be interrupted with a fully charged potent blow, but you'll have to avoid getting blasted in the process. Overall, you should be able to land plenty of Reflections and counters as long as you watch for and avoid his glowing katana attacks.

Rewards For Defeating Gwydo

Find Out Gwydo's Nature & Gain A Few Chaos-Ridden Set Pieces To Boot

Unfortunately, there aren't many amazing rewards for defeating Gwydo, though you will receive two random pieces of the Chaos-Ridden Set, the main set you also received from Maluca. Gwydo will also drop a random weapon or accessory, some Lacrima, and a bit of gold. He'll also drop his diary, which reveals that he was an abusive monster. After breaking the news to his buddy Tristan, Khazan can return to the Crevice and add to his collection of Chaos-Ridden gear. The Chaos-Ridden set is a choice Greatsword set with Brink Guard enhancements.

The one good thing about Gwydo is that he's incredibly easy to farm, so it's absolutely worth repeatedly fighting him for the Chaos-Ridden set pieces if you need them. You could easily get a full set by fighting him three or four times, and these fights are generally much shorter than many others in The First Berserker: Khazan, saving you some time in getting the Chaos-Ridden set.
