One of my favorite features of The First Berserker: Khazan is the range of different armor sets available that let you mess around with a ton of different playstyles. The great thing about the armor set structure is that there are often specific weapons included in the best sets, making it unnecessary to track down and figure out the best weapon/armor combinations.

Armor sets can be crafted at the defeat the Aratra boss and complete the "Blacksmith's Heirloom" bonus mission. You'll also need to collect the associated scrolls for each armor set and gather the materials needed for each set. Many of the most powerful armor sets have special materials that can be farmed from specific bosses, though the chance of them dropping are entirely random.

10 Unending Tragedy Set

An Eight-Piece Set For Ultimate Dual Wield Damage

First Berserker Khazan Unending Tragedy Set

The Unending Tragedy Scroll is found during the "Remnants of Chaos" mission and is one of the few eight-piece sets available in the game. This is a Dual-Wield focused gear set and includes the Dual Wield of Unending Tragedy, Helm, Pauldrons, Gauntlet, Leggings, and Shoes of Unending Tragedy, as well as the Scarlet Robin's Ring and the Necklace of the Singing Hawk.

How To Get & Use Chaos Fragments In The First Berserker: Khazan

Chaos Fragment is used to craft the Chaos-Ridden Set in The First Berserker: Khazan, and is a rare material that can only be found in certain places.

The Unending Tragedy Set pieces can be dropped randomly when you defeat Princess Ilyna, and she also has the potential to drop the Princess's Mirror special crafting material, which is used for crafting items from the set. This set is ideal for the best Dual Wield build in First Berserker: Khazan.

9 Chaos-Ridden Set

A Greatsword Set Steeped In Chaos

The Chaos-Ridden armor set is among the best sets for a Greatsword build in The First Berserker: Khazan, featuring the unique and deadly ability, Volcanic Wrath, a Fury attack that absolutely devastates enemies. The Chaos-Ridden scroll can be picked up relatively early in the campaign during the "Final Conquest" mission in the Abandoned Citadel. This is a six-piece set that includes the Chaos-Ridden Greatsword, Helm, Pauldrons, Gauntlet, Leggings, and Shoes.

There are 14 different special materials in The First Berserker: Khazan, all of which are used to craft a specific armor set at the blacksmith and can be farmed from particular bosses.

The Chaos-Ridden Set requires a special material in the Maluca boss in Nadin Quarry. The Chaos-Ridden Set includes the Chaos-Ridden Greatsword with a fixed attribute that increases damage for 15 seconds after a successful counterattack.

8 Deep Shadow Set

The Best Mid-Game Armor Set For Spear Builds

The Deep Shadow Set is one of my top choices for a mid-game Spear build in Khazan, as it is available sooner than the best option for Spears, the Crushed Dreams Set. This set consists of the Formless Warrior's Spear, and the Deep Shadow Helm, Pauldrons, Gauntlet, Leggings, and Shoes. The core feature of this build is Assault enhancement, and this armor set is viable against all the mid-game bosses.

Use the Deep Shadow Set for a mid-game Spear build and switch to the Crushed Dreams Set once you find the Crushed Dreams scroll.

You can find the Deep Shadow Scroll in El Ravaca Village during the "Devoured Village" mission. The Formless Warrior's Spear has a fixed attribute that teaches Khazan the Skyfall ability, which is one of the best Spear skills in the game, making this spear a great standalone weapon choice as well.

7 Devourer of Darkness Set

A Greatsword Set With Built-In Poison Damage

The Devourer of Darkness Set is among the best armor sets in Khazan for a Greatsword build, and it enhances the Ghost Arm Block skill in various ways while also giving the Greatsword inherent Poison effects. The Devourer of Darkness offers Khazan the Mad Dash ability for the Greatsword with its fixed attribute. Crafted from the Man-Eating Spider Scroll found in Nadin Quarry on your way to Aratra, this is one of the earliest available Greatsword armor sets.

Volbaino is the 4th boss in The First Berserker: Khazan and is found at the end of a village, who players will have to beat to progress the story.

The Devourer of Darkness requires special materials dropped randomly by Aratra as well — the Man-Eating Spider Leg. This is an excellent armor set for anyone using a Greatsword and implementing Ghost Arm Block regularly into their gameplay. The set includes the Devourer of Darkness Greatsword, Helm, Top, Wristguards, Pants, and Shoes.

6 Faded Memories Set

Another Top-Contender For Best Spear Armor Set

The Faded Memories Set is among my favorite gear sets in the game as a Spear enthusiast, neck and neck with the Crushed Dreams set. This is another eight-piece set with some incredible features for a Spear lover. As an all-around Spear-enhancing armor set, the Faded Memories set consists of the Spear, Headpiece, Cloak, Gloves, Tros, and Shoes of Faded Memories, as well as Reese's Ring and the Necklace of Promise.

You can only acquire the Scroll of Faded Memories after defeating Reese, a notoriously difficult late-game boss. She will also randomly drop the special crafting material needed for this set, the Tears of Farewell.

5 Fugitive Mage Set

The Best Greatsword Armor Set In Khazan

The Fugitive Mage Set gets my vote as the best gear option for a Greatsword build in The First Berserker: Khazan. The Fugitive Mage Set consists of the Fugitive Mage Greatsword, Headpiece, Robe, Wristguards, Pants, Shoes, and Ring, and the Necklace of Untold Truths. The set emphasizes the Armor Breaker and Heartpiercer Greatsword skills, and using this set is an absolute must if you're a Greatsword fan.

The First Berserker Khazan Has One Unique Feature Every Soulslike Is Missing

The First Berserker: Khazan has a unique feature that lets you earn XP and Skill Points for fighting bosses, even if you end up dying in the process.

The Fugitive Mage Scroll can be found during the "Atlante the Precise" bonus mission at Wastus Canyon, and the set requires special crafting materials called the Hermit's Enchanted Stone. This crafting material is dropped randomly and can be farmed by fighting Bellerian, the major boss found in the Rephalan Mountains.

4 Beastslayer Set

Another Excellent Dual Wield Set

The Beastslayer Set is a very versatile Dual Wield set available very early, and it's one of the most practically useful sets in the game. It consists of the Beastslayer's Dual Wield, Headband, Pauldrons, Wristguards, Leggings, and Shoes, and its buffs will enhance the Whirlwind ability considerably on a Dual Wield build. Whirlwind is easily one of the best skills to use for a range of situations when using a Dual Wield, so this set is ideal once you've gotten deep into the mid-game.

The Beastslayer Set items can be randomly dropped from a mid-game boss with some wild attacks, Shactuka, who will also potentially drop the special crafting material needed for this set, Beast's Jawbone. The Beastslayer's Scroll is found during the "Why Have You Forsaken Us" mission in El Ravaca Sector No. 4.

3 Master of Chaos Set

The Best Set For Phantom Buffs

The Master of Chaos Set is one of the most unique sets in the game in that it primarily buffs Khazan's Phantom skills. You'll be able to pick up the Master of Chaos Scroll and random pieces of the Master of Chaos Set from the final boss in the game, Ozma, who will not be easy to beat. The Master of Chaos set has a few unique Phantom-enhancing features, primarily with the Sword Dance skill.

Consider using Jar Helmets instead of some of your headgear, as the higher-quality Jar Helmets have a fixed attribute that reduces set piece requirements, allowing you to replace the headgear with a Jar Helmet.

The Master of Chaos set consists of Ozma's Dual Wield, Horns, Wings, Claws, Shroud, and Gaiters. You can also acquire three unique weapons from defeating Ozma the first time, which are not part of any armor set but have amazing elemental effects built in: the Killing Flash Spear, which has a lightning effect, the Wooyo's Breeze Dual Wield, which has an Earth-element effect, and the Shooting Star Greatsword, which has a built-in Fire effect.

2 Bard Set

The Most Slept-On Set In Khazan

First Berserker Khazan Bard Set

The Bard Set might look like an underwhelming choice, as it doesn't include any set-specific weapons or accessories, and it seems like a rather generic set on first glance. However, this is easily the best set for the early to mid-game. You can find the Bard's Scroll in Palemion Citadel during the "Traitor Revealed" mission, and the set only requires five pieces to take full advantage of its effects.

The First Berserker: Khazan - Best Stats To Upgrade Early

Upgrading the right stats early in The First Berserker: Khazan requires a little understanding of how the weapon scaling works, but they can be reset.

The Bard Set will give you much better item drops, increased Lacrima gain, increased gold gain, and more. With three pieces equipped, you'll get a 20.0% increase to high-grade item drops. With four pieces, you'll get an additional 15% boost to weapon drop rate, and at five pieces you'll get a 25% increase to Lacrima gain. To boot, at Epic-quality or higher, each set piece boosts gold and/or Lacrima gain even further, making this absolutely incredible for an early-game option.

1 Crushed Dreams

The Best Armor Set For Spear Builds

First Berserker Khazan Crushed Dreams set

The Crushed Dreams set is a personal favorite, and it easily earns my vote as the best armor set for a Spear build. This set consists of the Crushed Dreams Spear, Mask, Pauldrons, Wristguards, Leggings, and Gaiters, as well as Elamein's Ring, which is only available via crafting at the blacksmith and cannot be found as a drop or while exploring. You can get random pieces of this set by defeating Elamein and/or the Remnant of Elamein.

The Crushed Dreams Scroll is found during the "Transcendental Sword" bonus mission in Darion Castle, and Northern Warrior's Blade is the special crafting material needed to craft this set, which is also dropped randomly by Elamein. Overall, as a Spear player, the Crushed Dreams set is my ultimate pick as one of the best armor sets available in The First Berserker: Khazan.
