Where Genshin Impact has artifacts, Honkai: Star Rail has relics. Relics are special materials players can equip to their characters in order to boost their stats. Ranging in rarity from 2 to 5 stars, relics belong to specific sets and unlock special effects when two or four pieces are equipped. Each relic has a main stat and 2/4 sub-stats to make characters stronger.
Relics in Honkai: Star Rail are split into two categories. The first, Cavern Relics, are sets of four clothing items, including Head, Hands, Body, and Feet. Wearing two or four pieces of a Cavern Relic set unlocks the set's special bonuses, with four-piece sets unlocking both effects. There are also Planar Ornaments, special sets of two relics including Planar Sphere and Link Rope.
Where To Find Relics In Honkai: Star Rail
Cavern Relics and Planar Ornaments come from different dungeons in Honkai: Star Rail. Cavern Relics are rewards for fighting through a Cavern of Corrosion. Different Caverns have different relics at various rarities. Players must unlock higher levels for each Cavern in order to guarantee 4-Star and 5-Star relics. Caverns of Corrosion unlock during the main story on Jarilo-VI.
Planar Ornaments, meanwhile, come from the Simulated Universe accessed in Herta's Office on the Herta Space Station, appearing in World 3 and beyond. This dungeon is rogue-like and full of chests and other mysteries to explore, differentiating it from the Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact and its linear experience. By pairing the right Planar Ornaments and Cavern Relics with characters, players can craft the perfect Honkai: Star Rail character builds.
Caverns of Corrosion and the Simulated Universe are not the only source of relics in Honkai: Star Rail. You can also get relics from quests, chests, shops, and as rewards for playing through the game.
Relic Sets In Honkai: Star Rail
Some relics in Honkai: Star Rail will always have the same main stat, while others pick their main stat from a set list. Head and Hands relics have flat HP and ATK, respectively. Body relics can have Crit Rate%, Crit DMG%, Outgoing Healing Boost%, Effect Hit Rate%, HP%, ATK%, or DEF%. The main stats for Feet relics are HP%, Speed, ATK%, Break Effect%, and DEF%. Planar Spheres represent HP%, ATK%, DEF%, or an Elemental Damage Boost. Lastly, Link Ropes use DEF%, Break Effect %, ATK%, Energy Regen Rate%, or HP%.
The randomly generated sub-stats on all relics include all the stats mentioned above, alongside flat DEF, Effect Hit Rate%, and Effect RES%. The RNG nature of relics is designed to encourage daily play and can prove annoying, but Honkai: Star Rail has a partial solution for that.
As this video from Volkin on YouTube discusses, Self-Modeling Resin allows players to choose the main stat for a relic they craft out of ten discarded relics. While sub-stats are still random, this crafting system improves the chances of getting a relic with the perfect stat set.
As of Honkai: Star Rail's launch, there are twelve regular relic sets and eight Planar Ornament sets. Each set is designed with certain Paths and Types in mind, providing specific stat boosts and unique effects that can be further strengthened by picking the right Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail.
