Froakie is one of the newest Pokemon to arrive in Pokemon Go. This guide will help players locate and capture it. Froakie originates from Pokemon X and Y, the Nintendo 3DS Pokemon adventure that released back in 2013. Like every other mainline Pokemon title, trainers begin their Pokemon journey by selecting 1 of 3 Pokemon at the start of the game. This creature will become the player's best and most loyal companion as they work together to collect all 8 gym badges and aim to become a Pokemon Master. Now, Pokemon from the Kalos region have begun to spawn in Pokemon Go. Here's where players can capture Froakie in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go continues to release new Pokemon with every major update. The "Go Beyond" update not only included a limited few of the Kalos Pokemon but also allowed players to the previous level cap of 40 to 50. Players will now need to complete a set number of challenges in order to reach the next level. This can include capturing a set number of Pokemon or participating in a specific number of battles. As the Kalos Pokemon are the new kids on the block, they are heavily sought after by new and older trainers alike. Here's how players can capture Froakie.

How To Find (& Catch Froakie) in Pokemon Go

Froakie is amongst the first wave of Kalos Pokemon to make their way into the game. There are currently two different ways for players to capture their own.

  • Spawns Randomly in the Wild: Players can stumble across a Froakie while playing the game. Players can also use Lures and Incense to increase the amount of Pokemon appearing at a time. Since Froakie is so new, it is likely it would spawn within a short period of time.
  • Eggs: Froakie can be found in a 5km egg. Make sure to put your most recent egg in the incubator. Older eggs will likely contain Pokemon from before the update, thus making it harder (and much longer) to find one.

More Pokemon from the Kalos region will release in a future update. They began releasing just small batches at a time so players have the opportunity to catch them before there's an oversaturation of Pokemon. Eventually, the mobile title will catch up with the mainline number of Pokemon available. It will be interesting to see how Niantic plans to release new content when all of the Pokemon are officially available.
