Square Enix has revealed new information about Bahamut and Odin in Final Fantasy 16 trailer leaked online a few hours before it was added to the official Final Fantasy YouTube channel. The trailer (and the official Final Fantasy XVI website) includes new information about the Bahamut and Odin Eikons' Dominants. The Bahamut Dominant is Dion Lesage, the prince of the Holy Empire of Sanbreque and the leader of the dragoons, a Final Fantasy staple. The Odin Dominant is Barnabas Tharmr, the ruler of the Kingdom of Waloed. Both are loved by their people and are proud warriors, but their lives are in danger from events transpiring across the world.

Final Fantasy XVI Has Introduced The Bahamut & Odin Eikons

The previous trailers for FF16 showed the Bahamut and Odin Eikons battling each other, so it's likely that Barnabas and Dion will be enemies in FF16. Protagonist Clive is also shown battling the full Odin Eikon in the trailer, dodging its colossal Zantetsuken blade, so these Eikons will also probably be bosses faced by the main character. FF16 has eight Eikons so far, and the Dominants for most of them have been revealed, but the gameplay footage suggests that Clive will receive all of their powers in combat. It remains to be seen how he will accomplish this, as he may get it from slaying Dominants, or it could be given freely by the Eikons themselves.

The most disappointing aspect of the trailer is that FF16 still retains its very loose release window of Summer 2023. The new trailer didn't show much of substance and most of the new information came from the game's official website. A lot of companies are currently making announcements about their 2023 line-up, so Square Enix likely wanted something FF16-related to put out there. This hopefully means that Final Fantasy XVI will hit its 2023 date and won't be pushed back to 2024.
