New Raid & Dungeon Confirmed For FFXIV Patch 7.2

Underkeep Dungeon Inspired By FF9

Final Fantasy 14’s Patch 7.2, also known as Seekers of Eternity, is bringing a lot of new challenges for players, including a new dungeon and the next part of the ongoing raid series. The new dungeon, named The Underkeep, is inspired by Final Fantasy 9 and is set in the world of Solution 9. Its appearance is based on the city of Alexandria, the dominion of Queen Brahne, and the location where the game both starts and begins.

Per the lore, Alexandria started sinking, and the people built a massive structure around its castle - the Everkeep - in an attempt to protect it as it descended deeper into the ground. The castle still stands perfectly intact inside, and players will recognize several iconic locations from FF9 throughout its halls: the towers the MS Prima Vista crashes into as it attempts to escape, the hall where Dagger escapes, and many more.

The raid series continues with the Cruiserweight tier, introducing new bosses for players to defeat. During the Live Letter, Square Enix showed a glimpse of a unique NPC using a spray paint canister, which might hint at some of the mechanics and themes in the raid. One of the raid arenas is a disco-themed dance floor, suggesting that players should expect some fun and quirky map designs. It has also been confirmed that one of the fights will be very fast-paced, which will appeal to players who enjoy more action-packed battles.

Final Fantasy 14 Might Just Have A League Of Legends Crossover According To One Lead Developer At Square Enix

A lead developer at Square Enix expressed their interest in finding a way to crossover Final Fantasy 14 and their favorite game, League of Legends.

The dungeon will be a great experience for casual players and those looking to improve their gear, while the raid will mean a serious challenge for those aiming for endgame content. Patch 7.2 looks set to keep players busy with a variety of new battles to take on, and it may actually be a great way to hold players off while they wait for FFXIV's move to mobile.

New Quests & Trials Coming To Dawntrail

Story Continuation From Patch 7.1

Dawntrail's patch 7.2, Seekers of Eternity, is set to bring a lot of new quests and challenges. The main story continues from patch 7.1, building on the plot and character developments as the Queen of Reason returns, and demands that her subjects become Endless.

Subscribers can also look forward to side quests in Patch 7.2. One of them, "The Occult Crescent," revolves around a dauntless explorer who sets out to the mysterious Shade's Triangle, located off the coast of Tural. This comes along with additional sidequests featuring more familiar characters: Inspector Hildibrand will return for more funny adventures, while the Mamool Ja will appear in new quests that allow gatherers to play a part in Eorzea's diverse cultures.

A new trial called Recollection will be introduced and will be available in both Normal and Extreme modes. The main enemy looks like a robotic version of FF9’s Beatrix and will require quick responses and teamwork to defeat. Completing the extreme challenge will earn players a special Wings mount, a sought-after item showing their success in the battle. Additionally, there will be a new Cornservant side quest.

Xbox head Phil Spencer is committed to bringing Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox systems, despite the port being promised in 2019 and having no updates.

Another new trial coming in Patch 7.2 is the Unreal difficulty level of Hells' Kier, a familiar enemy from the Stormblood expansion. This will doubtless be a significantly more difficult version of the original trial, but details will have to wait until release.

The dungeon is the biggest part of the update, leaving the quests and trials wanting. The dungeon likely took up a lot more of the development team’s focus than the quests and trials did. However, it’s a big dungeon, and there are at least a few new quests and trials to hold players over until the next update arrives.

PvP Updates In FFXIV Patch 7.2

Every Update To PVP Coming

Patch 7.2 is set to make several updates to the PvP content in FFXIV. First, PvP Series 8 will begin, offering new rewards for players participating in different PvP activities. This change also marks the end of Series 7, so players should finish any goals for that series before the patch is released. The rewards usually include special gear, emotes, titles, and other cosmetic items, so anyone behind on them should jump to finish them.

The rewards themselves weren’t revealed, but new rewards have been confirmed.

One major change is the return of the Frontline map called Secure, which has been revamped. This map was previously the least liked in the Frontline roulette, as many players liked other options. The developers listened to and made improvements to the map’s design and mechanics to fix previous issues. While specific changes haven’t been revealed, the aim is to make a more fun and balanced option for everyone. Its return will help diversify Frontline gameplay and give players another way to earn daily rewards and progress in the PvP series.

In addition to the rewards, patch 7.2 will introduce new PvP actions, giving players new strategies and options to try out. There will also be adjustments to some existing actions to improve balance, helping to make sure all jobs and playstyles are competitive. There’s no need to be concerned, because these balance adjustments are a common part of Final Fantasy 14’s updates for PvP. The next update will likely also bring adjustments to make sure the game is fair for everyone.

Finally, there will be new weapon and tool enhancement quests in Patch 7.2. The weapon enhancement quests will allow you to create new phantom weapons, which will take over as the best-in-slot gear for each of their respective classes once they're introduced. The quest to unlock them revolves around a renowned smith who takes to the seas to escape his financial troubles, eventually discovering ways to infuse weaponry with arcane power.

Tool enhancement quests, on the other hand, revolve around the Loporrit Searchingway, who'll recruit your Warrior of Light to the Cosmic Exploration Initiative in order to research space travel. Along the way, you'll discover some powerful tools to boost your crafting efforts.

For now, that's all we know about Patch 7.2: Seekers of Eternity. The rest will have to wait until after the next major update to Final Fantasy 14 is launched - and with a late March release window, it's not far away.
