Final Fantasy 7 Remake and its follow-up, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, add a lot of new content to the original aimed at fleshing out the game's cast of characters. This treatment wasn't just reserved for main characters like Cloud, Aeirth, or Tifa. Instead, the games also added a lot of depth to minor NPCs whose roles were much less nuanced in the original.

These characters' elevated roles in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth may not be as in-depth as Yuffie's new story in Episode INTERmission, but they are still a big step up from the original FF7. I wouldn't be surprised to see these characters getting a satisfying conclusion in the game's third part, and possibly even playing a significant role in certain events. There are also some NPCs original to FF7 Remake and FF7 Rebirth that I suspect could have big moments waiting for them in the finale of the trilogy.

10 The Shinra Middle Manager Is Now More Noble And Relatable

A Shinra Middle Manager From The Original Game Has Been Turned Into A Doting Father And Caring Boss

In the original Final Fantasy 7, the unnamed Shinra Middle Manager originally appears a few times on the train in Midgar, and is critical of Avalanche. However, as the game goes on, he becomes a little more disenchanted with his job. We last see him wondering if he could be the next Shinra president if the Weapons kill all the upper management.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Might Be Closer Than We Think After This Update

Based on an update by FF7 Remake's Cloud Strife voice performer Cody Christian, part 3 of the remake trilogy might be closer than we may think.

Although bits of the Middle Managers's story have been preserved in FF7 Remake and FF7 Rebirth, the games flesh the character out more and make him more likable. For one thing, he's now a doting father, learning to play Fort Condor to please his daughter, and collecting pictures for his family at Costa del Sol. He also briefly leaves Shinra, and when he goes back, it's with the goal of defending his colleagues from the company's worst practices. We last see him shaking Cloud's hand and hoping they meet again, which could be setting up a meeting in part three.

9 Kyrie's Antics Could Lead To Real Growth

Kyrie Tries Carving Her Own Path In FF7 Rebirth, With Some Disastrous Results

Kyrie is a thief and a con artist from the Midgar slums. She wasn't in the original FF7, instead being introduced in the follow-up novel Final Fantasy 7 The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story. Kyrie is largely a comedic character, often finding herself in over her head after one of her schemes goes awry, and needing help from Cloud and his party to bail her out. In FF7 Rebirth, Kyrie begins advertising her services as a mercenary, but she is even more incompetant than she was as a thief, once again needing Cloud and the gang's help.

Although Kyrie seems largely self-interested, and a little naive, there are hints that she is a more virtuous person than she lets on. For instance, in Zack's alternate reality, Kyrie shows up to Avalanche, though ultimately leaves when she realizes she's the only one. Still, this could hint at some hidden depths to her character which could lead to a bigger moment for her in the final part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy that redeems her misdeeds and shows her growth.

8 Leslie's Story Hasn't Been Given A Solid Conclusion

Leslie Is Still Searching For His Partner And Out For Revenge Last We See Him

Like Kyrie, Leslie is another character who was originally from Final Fantasy 7: The Kids Are Alright: A Turks Side Story. In FF7 Remake, the player meets Leslie, who is working as a guard for Don Corneo at his mansion. At first, Leslie just seems like one of Corneo's lackies, but there are hints that he doesn't approve of his boss' work.

It's later revealed that Leslie is only working with Don Corneo to learn what happened to his missing fiancée, Merle. Leslie helps Cloud and the party fight back against Corneo and was planning to execute the crime boss before being interrupted by Corneo's pet Abzu. Once Cloud and his party saved Leslie, they parted on good , with Leslie still hoping to track down Don Corneo. With his story left unresolved - at least to those who haven't read the novel - it would be nice to see Leslie return in part three and get a conclusion to this arc.

7 You Just Can't Seem To Get Rid Of Johnny

Johnny's Role From The Original Game Has Been Expanded On, Leaving Room For A Bigger Role In The Game's Finale

In the original Final Fantasy 7, Johnny is a resident of the Midgar Slums who has a few interactions with Cloud before departing Midgar and eventually settling down with a woman he met in Costa del Sol. Although he expresses iration for Tifa and her ability to create drinks in the original, his feelings for her in the remake trilogy were ramped up to a full-blown romantic obsession. Johnny is a well-meaning character who tries to help Cloud rescue Tifa from Don Corneo, but he ultimately proves ineffective in most of his attempts.

Johnny shows up in Costa del Sol in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth having been swindled into buying a rundown old hotel and going into debt to the town's mayor. He helps the party fight off Hojo with the help of clones that Yuffie makes of him. Johnny and his clones manage to get out of debt and renovate the hotel, setting him up for success. It's unclear if Johnny will simply settle down like he did in the original game, but given his prominence in the remakes, I'm expecting him to play a larger role in their conclusion.

6 Chadley's Tedious Side Quests Might Lead To A Satisfying Conclusion

Chadley Tasks The Player With Doing A Lot Of Research Which Could Pay Off In FF7 Part Three

Chadley is a new character added in Final Fantasy 7 Remake. He is a robot research assistant designed by Hojo who is secretly working to help Cloud undermine Shinra. In the first game, he mostly just shows up to help you develop Materia and gain access to Summon Materia through boss battles. However, when he reappeared in the sequel, he quickly became the mascot for some of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth's worst elements.

Chadley's role in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth largely boils down to giving you busy work. You'll hunt monsters for him or collect geological data by visiting specific places on the map. He does still offer you powerful Summon Materia, but that doesn't make up for all the tedious quests he gives out in the name of research. My hope is that all the research you're doing has a major payoff in the third part of FF7's remake trilogy, making everything you did for him seem worth it.

5 Marlene's Special Abilities Have Yet To Be Fully Explored

Marlene Seems To Be Able To See Both Realities

Marlene is a young girl and Barret's daughter who, interestingly enough, actually played a slightly larger role in the original Final Fantasy 7. She was taken hostage by Shinra alongside Aerith's mother Elmyra as leverage to ensure the party complied with the traitorous Cait Sith during their trip to the Temple of the Ancients. The story of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth plays out differently, and Marlene doesn't end up playing this pivotal role. However, there are still hints that she could play a bigger role in the trilogy's finale despite her reduced presence.

Marlene doesn't just show up in the main universe of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but also in the alternate reality where Zack Fair is still alive. In that universe, Marlene seems to have some knowledge of the other world, knowing both about Aerith's death at the hands of Sephiroth, and that she has feelings for Cloud. Its unclear if her knowledge will have any impact on the story, but it seems like a strange detail to include if it wouldn't lead to something meaningful later on.

4 Jessie Could Still Be Alive Somewhere

FF7 Remake's Ending Hinted At Jessie Living In The Alternate Universe

Jessie is one of the three Avalanche , along with Biggs and Wedge, who Cloud meets on his first mission in Final Fantasy 7. In both the original game and the remake, Jessie dies defending Sector 7's pillar while Shinra attempts to drop the plate on the slums. However, this may only be the case in one of Final Fantasy 7 Remake's realities. At the end of the game, it's revealed that the alternate reality version of Biggs has survived, and we see Jessie's headband and glove on the table next to him.

Now, Jessie doesn't appear in the alternate reality timeline in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Biggs' story seems to confirm she's dead in that world too. However, it just seems strange that the first game would tease her return but then not have her present in the second game. There could be plans to reveal the alternate-reality Jessie is still alive in part three. That said, I hope her lost apparel wasn't the hint I initially thought it was, and Jessie is truly gone, as it would be hard to top her touching tribute at the Golden Saucer.

3 Nayo And Her Companions Could Continue The Legacy Of Fallen Friends

Nayo And Her Avalanche Companions Were Used As An Allusion To Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge In FF7 Rebirth

Nayo is a new character in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake continuity who was first introduced in the Episode INTERmission DLC. Nayo is a member of the main Avalanche faction sent to oversee activity in Sector 7, and keep an eye on Barret and his Avalanche splinter group. Nayo assists Yuffie during the DLC, and then later returns during the Cosmo Canyon Protorelic mission alongside other of Avalanche. Her companion Billy Bob even expresses interest in ing up with the party to continue Avalanche's fight, but Barret ultimately shoots him down.

Nayo and her crew's main function during the quest is to serve as a reminder for the party of their three fallen Avalanche companions, Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge. However, it wouldn't be too surprising to see them continue to act as a metaphorical stand-in for the three original Avalanche in the finale of the trilogy. Seeing Nayo and her crew helping advance Avalanche's cause could be a nice way to show that, although Jessie, Biggs, and Wedge are gone, their fight has been taken up by others.

2 Madam M Deserves A Big Moment Like Her Fellow Trio

Madam M, Chocobo Sam, And Andrea Rhodea Make Up Wall Market's Trio

Final Fantasy 7 Remake expanded a lot on the story of the original by fleshing out the world and its characters. One way it did this was by introducing a group of powerful figureheads to Wall Market known as the Trio. The Trio consists of the enigmatic hand-masseuse Madam M, the stylish Andrea Rhodea, who owns the Honeybee Inn, and Chocobo Sam, who is well known for his race-winning Chocobos. The Trio also make minor appearances throughout Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on the cruise, at Costa del Sol, and the Golden Saucer.

Almost 30 years ago, the developers of Final Fantasy 7 wanted to do something that wouldn't be possible until the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.

Both Chocobo Sam and Andrea Rhodea have had some big moments so far in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. Andrea is responsible for the famous makeover that Cloud receives in Wall Market, and Chocobo Sam has an emotional side story with his nephew Billy. Of the Trio, Madam M is the only member who hasn't really had a big moment yet. With Andrea's coming in the first game, and Sam's in the second, it would make sense for Madam M to have her moment in the third game.

1 Cissnei Could Her Fellow Turks

Cissnei Is Still Working For Shinra But We Don't Know To What Extent

Cissnei was first introduced in Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, which was a prequel to the original game starring Zack Fair. Given Zack's increased role in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, it makes sense that elements of his game would appear in it. Cissnei is a former Turk living in Zack's hometown of Gongaga, where she leads their Youth Coalition. However, it is revealed during one of your quests that Cissnei has secretly continued working for Shinra, though to what end isn't entirely clear.

Although Cissnei may have just appeared as a reference to Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, I could also see her story reaching a more definitive conclusion in part three of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. She could turn up alongside the rest of the Turks to help out in Midgar like she did in the epilogue of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7, though given that this is a new continuity, there is room for surprises.
