Morgan's group will be greatly divided in Fear the Walking Dead season 6, and here's the characters will be paired together. Due to the actions of the Pioneers, Morgan (Lennie James) and his people are now split into much smaller groups, and so, getting back together will presumably be the focus of season 6. Official photos and the Fear the Walking Dead season 6 trailer provide clues as to who will be with who when the show returns in October.
Fear the Walking Dead created a mostly new cast when it brought Morgan Jones over from Fear the Walking Dead season 5 finale, Virginia forced them into an ultimatum by putting them in a position where they had no choice but to accept Virginia’s help.
The cost of Virginia’s assistance was that they had to leave with the Pioneers and their settlements. One problem them with this is that Virginia wasn’t interested in keeping them together. Many were shown being packed into cars and driven away to different locations. Morgan was left behind, as Virginia had determined that it would be better to kill him. Morgan, now in dire straits, is on his own while the rest of his people have been scattered by the Pioneers. It’s apparent that they’ll be apart for a while, since it’s already been said that Fear the Walking Dead season 6 will spend entire episodes focusing on just a few characters. But who will be traveling with whom in season 6?
Strand, Alicia & John
As confirmed by the new photos, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) will be in the company of Strand (Colman Domingo) in season 6. This pairing makes sense, considering that Alicia and Strand have one of the oldest relationships on the show. They’re two of the only three season 1 characters, the other being Daniel Salazar (Rubén Blades). Over the past five seasons, Alicia and Strand have survived through several grueling conflicts, and have grown closer through their time together.
Also along for the ride is John Dorie, the group’s resident gunslinger. John was seen getting into a fist fight with Strand in the trailer. John and Strand have a great deal of ideological differences, with the former being a cowboy with an unwavering moral com and an optimistic outlook, and the latter being a selfish conman. Despite this, Strand and John have managed to become friends. Though Strand has come far in his character development, it was mentioned during Comic-Con@Home that Strand may go back to his old ways. It could be that this will contribute to his falling out with John in the trailer, which could also be affected by John’s personal situation. Being separated from June (Jenna Elfman) and everyone else could have put John in a dark place, as indicated by his disheveled appearance.
Luciana & Sarah
Luciana (Danay Garcia), whose original role was Nick’s love interest in season 2, has been a central character since she was brought back into the picture in season 4. In season 6, she’ll be paired with Sarah (Mo Collins), a character with whom she shares a complicated history that goes all the way back to the death of Polar Bear (Stephen Henderson). Luciana discovered that the dying man who inspired her to help people in need was indirectly killed by Sarah when she stole his truck.
This, of course, influenced Luciana’s impression of her, and it’s quite likely that this will be touched on in during their scenes together. As for where the two will be spending their time, Luciana and Sarah will be based at Polar Bear’s oilfield. This was the resource that Logan (Matt Frewer) fought so hard to find in season 5. Luciana had agreed to make gas for the Pioneers in order to ensure the survival of her group. She was the only main character who was already a prisoner of the Pioneers before the group was split up in the finale.
Salazar & June
One of the new photos shows Salazar, who worked as a barber prior to the zombie apocalypse, tending to Virginia’s hair. Another photo previews an angry confrontation between June and Virginia. Given that they’re both going to interact with the season 6 main villain, it looks like Salazar and June have been stationed at the Pioneers’ primary settlement. Salazar’s seemingly compliant behavior suggests that he’s decided to do as he’s told for the time being. June, on the other hand, was forcibly taken away from her husband, so she may be more determined to fight back and get away from the Pioneers.
Althea & Dwight
Fear the Walking Dead’s second crossover character, Dwight (Austin Amelio), will be traveling with Althea. The two had some interactions in season 5, with Al interviewing Dwight about his past association with the Saviors. How they will get along in season 6 is unclear, but there’s a good chance that their story will eventually converge with the arrival of Sherry (Christine Evangelista), Dwight’s wife. The search for Sherry – a character who has never appeared on Fear the Walking Dead – was Dwight’s main goal during the first half of season 5. Dwight thought he heard her voice on the radio in the finale, but came to belief that it was a hallucination. That may not be the case after all, since AMC has hinted at Sherry’s reunion with Dwight in season 6.
Other of Morgan’s Group
AMC has yet to reveal the fates of certain Fear the Walking Dead characters. There’s no word on what the show will do with Wendell (Daryl Mitchell), Charlie (Alexa Nisensen), Wes (Colby Hollman), Grace (Karen David), or the most recent addition to the group, Rabbi Jacob (Peter Jacobson). They could be in a separate group, or they could be sprinkling into the other stories. One plotline that season 6 will have to revisit with these character’s is Grace’s medical condition. Grace was revealed to be pregnant in the season 5 finale, so because of season 6's multiple time jumps, she could have already given birth before the start of the new season.
