Star Jeremy Sisto said losing Isobel after FBI season 7’s finale might have been one of the show’s most explosive endings yet. Forefront, an anti-government terrorist organization that the team had encountered before, resurfaced and carried out a lethal attack on the agency. In the end, Isobel has seemingly died after the culprits were reprimanded.

Speaking to TV Insider, Sisto comments on Jubal's boss possibly dying. She was first believed to have died after being affected by one of the few office explosions at the New York HQ. However, playing dead was part of the ruse that led to the defeat of Keene and his fellow moles in the organization. After the dust settled, however, Isobel faints just as she was addressing Jubal's team for a job well done. Read Sisto's full comment below:

“It would be a huge blow to the office and to Jubal and to obviously the show as well. We are all hoping that that is not the case. … I think one of the reasons our show works is because all the characters fill a necessary role within this family, and so it would be a real shame to break something that’s working so well.”

Losing Isobel Can Shake Things Up For FBI

While FBI season 7 seemed set to drop Maggie earlier in its run, this is not the first hint at Isobel’s potential exit. Earlier in the season, viewers were introduced to her ive husband and Isobel mentioned that she was thinking about retirement. Anyone familiar with cop shows and movies knows that this is a surefire way for a character to get themselves killed, since dying moments from retirement is such an inherently poignant, tragic fate.

Isobel losing consciousness is likely the result of her injuries from the explosion going untreated for the whole of the FBI season 7 finale. In of storytelling, she couldn't get the medical attention she needed right away, because she and her team had bigger things to deal with. The massive head wound suggests that Isobel may have suffered a concussion, which can certainly lead to death, if not treated in a timely manner.

Isobel’s Death Seems Likely To Be A Fake Out

It seems that this very fate might have befallen Isobel, although viewers may not need to break out the funeral wreaths just yet. As Sisto noted in his comments, FBI season 8 needs Isobel as part of the show's central team, and replacing de la Garza’s character would be tricky now that the show’s effective dynamics are set in stone. As such, the FBI season 7 finale’s Isobel death may well be a fake-out, and the character might survive into season 8. However, even than may feel repetitive, considering the recent events in the agency.
