WARNING! SPOILERS ahead for FBI season 7, episode 19, "Partner."

FBI season 7. However, Maggie has seemed increasingly unhappy with her job throughout the season.

During "Partner," Maggie and OA work together to help find a missing child, only to discover the girl is being used as leverage and is returned once the villains have their hands on C4 explosives and other items they can use to terrorize New Yorkers. While it is all resolved by the end, and there is no official announcement about Missy Peregrym leaving the FBI season 7 cast, Maggie's unhappiness during this mission suggests that she may be considering exiting the series.

Maggie Questions The Purpose Of Her Job In FBI Season 7, Episode 19

She No Longer Sees The Point Of Sacrificing Everything For Her Job

Maggie and OA are isolated temporarily after they are exposed to anthrax. While they are waiting for the doctor to confirm that they do not have the toxin in their systems, Maggie tells OA that incidents like this are why she was forced to give up Ella. She tells him, "This job is too dangerous. We give up everything. Our families, our normal lives. And for what?" It is not simply that she is scared of contracting anthrax, but that Maggie no longer sees the point of all the sacrifices she's made in her career.

Maggie and OA have always worked together on cases, but there is a reason she works with Scola instead in several episodes of FBI season 7.

OA has the opposite attitude, however. He feels the sacrifice is worth it because it stops perpetrators from hurting other people. This contrast illustrates why Maggie's comments are so concerning. While she may have been triggered by this situation's similarity to her previous experience with being attacked by sarin gas, it's also clear she's lost her motivation to do the work. Without that motivation, Maggie wouldn't be effective in her job and could put herself or her fellow agents in danger because she's not fully focused.

How Maggie Leaving Would Shake Up FBI

She's Been A Major Character Since The Beginning

The idea of Maggie leaving is especially worrisome because many characters get poor exit stories, and it would be depressing and chaotic if Maggie were to be killed in the line of duty, but even worse if she suddenly left town for another job position or to be closer to Ella. Additionally, Maggie's departure would leave OA without the partner that he's worked with for the past 7 years.

If Maggie does depart, the series will need to have a better plan for how to replace her than it had with Tiffany.

Scola has already spent much of FBI season 7 without a partner because of Tiffany's decision to leave. If Maggie does depart, the series will need to have a better plan for how to replace her than it had with Tiffany. Regardless, FBI's dynamic would change if Maggie were no longer there for OA to bounce ideas off of, especially since the two often help balance each other during emotionally difficult cases.
