FBI: Most Wanted season 6, episode 22, titled "The Circle Game," wraps up the spinoff series from FBI after an intense final case. FBI: Most Wanted was one of the shows that CBS canceled in 2025 despite its relatively high ratings. It was one of the more violent procedurals on TV, as it focused on the Fugitive Task Force, which chased dangerous, armed criminals, most of whom had gone on killing sprees.

"The Circle Game" didn't wrap things up until the final minutes of the episode, instead offering a final case before revealing each character's fate. Interestingly, this set-up would have worked equally well as a season finale, as only one character got an exit story at the end of the episode. However, the final minutes allowed for a satisfying and heartfelt wrap-up, which was the best that could be hoped for now that there's no chance of FBI: Most Wanted season 7 moving ahead.

FBI: Most Wanted Series Finale Case Explained

The Team Chases Rogue Government Agents Who Are Killing People

The final case in FBI: Most Wanted is intense, though slightly convoluted. The story begins with the murder of a federal worker who is participating in a peaceful protest against cuts to federal agencies that resulted in massive layoffs. For the first half of the episode, the Fugitive Task Force chases the perps, Judy and Saquon. Saquon takes his aunt hostage when he learns the FBI is after him, but this part of the story quickly comes to an end when Barnes (Roxy Sternberg) fatally shoots him and Judy turns herself in.

It is soon revealed that Saquon was working with two rogue federal auditors who have been using their access to government agencies to get security codes and data they need to attack power grids and other computerized systems. After the perps murder two security guards, the Fugitive Task Force launches a manhunt. Eventually, they catch up with the two troublemakers. One perp is shot dead and the other eventually surrenders after a tense standoff in a church, where the perp is holding an older church leader hostage and threatening to kill him.

In The Final Minutes, He Reveals His Decision

After the case is over, the entire team heads to Remy and Abby's new restaurant to celebrate its opening — and Remy's birthday. Remy is touched when the team surprises him with a cake after he and Abby serve a fancy dinner. However, he feels the time is right to make an announcement, and shares with his team that he has decided after a tough year that it's time for him to retire from the FBI.

Since the series is ending, it makes sense for Remy to begin a new chapter in his life by retiring from the FBI and focusing on running his restaurant with Abby.

The turn of events is not entirely unsurprising, although the team is not expecting it. The ending also brings to a close the season-long storyline about Abby not being happy that Remy works long hours and lives far away from her, as the two will now be able to live and work together.

Barnes Takes Over The Fugitive Team After Remy's Retirement

Remy Announces She Will Be The New Leader

Remy assures the team that they are in good hands, as Barnes will be the new leader once he departs. This is Barnes' best possible ending. However, it involves somewhat of a twist because of the way the ending is set up over the last few episodes of the series. Barnes has been talking nonstop about a job in Washington, D.C., which would allow her to be closer to her children and her ex-wife. Thus, until her fate is revealed, it seems likely that she will leave to pursue that job instead of taking over the Fugitive Task Force.

"The Circle Game" adds another red herring near the beginning of the episode. Barnes and Remy are seen in Remy's office at the end of the previous episode, and Remy seems upset about Barnes choosing to leave the team to take a job in D.C. The two are still in Remy's office when Hana gets the news about the new case. Ray comments that he doesn't know what's going on, but it must be serious because Barnes and Remy have been talking for a long time, making it appear that they are discussing Barnes' transfer, not an internal promotion.

What Happens To The Rest Of FBI: Most Wanted's Team

They All Stay With The Fugitive Task Force But Have Major Life Changes

After making his announcement, Remy honors his team by telling each of them what they mean to him. In addition, each character's fate is revealed, either at the table or in scenes earlier in the episode. While Remy is the only character in the FBI: Most Wanted season 6 cast who leaves the Fugitive Task Force, each character gets a satisfying ending. Prior to Remy's announcement, Hana (Keisha Castle-Hughes) has news of her own to share: now that Ethan has completed rehab, the two have decided to live together.

However, she jokes that she "is more excited about seeing his dog" than about the man himself. Ray also has exciting news; he shows a sonogram to Nina earlier in the episode and later shares the news with the entire team that he's going to be a father again. Nina has the least exciting ending — she's staying with the team, but early in the episode, she has a heart-to-heart with her father and accepts his apology for his earlier judgmental attitude about her and Scola's decision not to marry.

Will Any FBI: Most Wanted Characters Appear on FBI Now That Most Wanted Has Ended?

The Door Is Open For Them To Do So

While there have been no official cast announcements, it is possible that some characters will appear on FBI now that the spinoff has ended. Everyone except for Remy is still working for the Fugitive Task Force and is in good standing with the FBI. As such, Isobel could transfer one or two characters to the New York Field Office if they are needed and seem like a good fit for the original FBI series.

It is also possible for FBI: Most Wanted characters to have cameo appearances on FBI. Although the spinoff series is over, the Fugitive Task Force still exists. Characters such as Hana, Sheryll, and Ray could visit the FBI from time to time when their expertise might be helpful to a given case. Nina already visits occasionally because she is married to Scola, who is a main character on that series, and there is no reason that can't continue to happen now that FBI: Most Wanted has ended its run.
