When Netflix took on the animated Winx Club for a live-action adaptation, plenty were skeptical of the concept working as a dark and gritty fantasy series. The first season of Fate: The Winx Saga debuted on the streaming platform to mixed reviews, but for the most part, the changes made to the original storyline streamline the plot and make it accessible for those unfamiliar with the large cast of characters.

That large cast of characters, however, does mean that the audience can find any number of fairies and specialists to relate to. By examining their personalities, fans can even determine their zodiac sign, though they might not match up to their elemental gifts - or even the birth dates the audience knows from the show.

Updated on October 1st, 2022 by Amanda Bruce: With the debut of the second season of Fate: The Winx Saga, Netflix introduced a handful of new characters to the audience. Despite the short episode order and the large cast, the show does a good job at allowing each of those new characters to be explored nearly as much as the original main cast, providing the audience a good look at their personalities, and allowing for determining their most likely zodiac sign.

Warning: The following contains spoilers for The Winx Saga Season 2 on Netflix.

Aries: Bloom And Flora

A split image features Bloom and Flora in The Winx Saga

Bloom is one of the only Fate characters the audience actually finds out a birthday for in the show. So interested in her past, she discovers that she was likely born in early December, which would make her a Sagittarius if the audience tracked the canon Winx zodiac signs. Bloom, however, fits the fire sign Aries much better. Aries are born of ion and impulse. They tend to act without thinking, which can land them in hot water. They also tend to put their stubborn behind causes they care deeply about. Bloom does just that in the series, searching for information about her birth, the truth about Rosalind, and saving her school without measuring out the potential consequences.

Much like Bloom, Flora tends to rush into situations without always thinking them through. Also like Bloom, Flora wants so badly to help others that she’s perfectly willing to allow herself to get hurt to save everyone else. For Bloom, that usually means battling the villain on her own. For Flora, that means forming a plan to lure magical creatures to attack her so everyone else can be free to fight back or run.

Taurus: Sam

Musa And Sam embrace In Fate The Winx Saga

Brother to Terra, Sam is pretty laid back as far as the audience sees. There are few things that can rile him up, but one is when his family is hurt in any way. That protective streak and his grounded nature as an earth fairy are what make him the Taurus of the Winx zodiac signs.

Those born under the sign of Taurus can be incredibly stubborn, but that's typically because they're also set in their ways. He doesn't seem to be the kind of person to step outside of his comfort zone - except where Musa's concerned as he connects with her right away. Taurans make for a dependable friend or significant other, much as Sam represents the "absence of chaos" for a mind fairy like Musa.

Gemini: Stella And Grey

A split image features Stella and Grey in The Winx Saga

At first glance, Stella seems like the school's queen bee. She is snarky, perfectly put together, and has a history with the most popular boy in school. That's not entirely true as a rumor about her has made her as much of a social outcast as Bloom becomes when she's revealed as a changeling. Stella, however, knows that rumors can be manipulated to her advantage, just as emotions can be used to fuel her power over light. She quickly adapts to her changes in circumstances, though she might not always like them. Stella, able to be bubbly and friendly one minute and seriously take on adversity the next, is the true definition of the adapting Gemini.

Grey also knows how to play societal games to fit in. Where Stella is used to slipping around in royal society though, Grey needs to blend in with fairies to survive. He feels an intense loyalty to the blood witches because of his love for his parents and the death of his older brother, which is the only reason he sides with Sebastian. He understands that changing alliances to help Bloom and her friends is for the good of the people, not just the blood witches.

Cancer: Silva

Silva instructs the specialists while sparring with Sky in Fate The Winx Saga

Not someone with fairy abilities, Silva is a specialist. Specifically, he's the teacher of the specialists, training the group in a variety of fighting forms. He should be rough around the edges, strict, and difficult to talk to if young adult stereotypes are enforced.

While Silva can be that way at times, he's much more like the deeply feeling Cancer. Silva clearly has his favorite students, ones that he's connected with more than others. He also, however, holds immense guilt for everything that has led to Sky being in his care. Silva searches for the good in his students, believing they can all be better, but he doesn't always show them just how much he cares.

Leo: Riven

Riven stands on the school grounds in Fate The Winx Saga

Riven, by his own ission, wasn't the cool and popular bad boy a year earlier. He was a bit of a dork. That changed when he decided to give in to his impulses, which might make him sound like an Aries. The difference is, Riven thinks about the consequences of those impulses but decides he can handle the bad consequences if it means he gets to have a little fun in the spotlight in The Winx Saga.

Riven is at his happiest when he's the center of Beatrix's attention, or when he's needling Dane about how much the latter must like him. He's definitely an attention-seeking Leo who wants to have a good time.

Virgo: Aisha

Aisha controls the water around her to help Bloom in The Winx Saga

Virgos are often thought of as the maternal friend. They keep strict schedules, plan things far in advance, and take care of everyone. That is very much in line with Aisha. Despite her elemental ability being water, she's definitely this earth sign.

Aisha swims every day because it helps her to feel grounded. She's the one member of her suite who seems to be able to keep up with her studies in addition to helping Bloom figure out her past. Aisha even manages to reorganize the heistress' filing system. Sure, she might get her friends in trouble once in a while, but it's because she's looking out for them. It's all very Virgo of her.

Libra: Sky

Sky talks with Bloom in Fate The Winx Saga

With a father who was a specialist soldier, and raised by Silva, it's no wonder that Sky becomes a specialist as well. He's born into the role of leader and protector.

Sky also happens to be pretty charming, as both Stella and Bloom can attest, which makes it easy for him to get information out of people. His leadership skills and that charm are both Libra traits. Libras are natural diplomats, able to see every side of a situation.

Scorpio: Beatrix

Beatrix uses her power over air to control lightning in The Winx Saga

Scorpios get a bad reputation among zodiac fans. An aggressive nature lends to them often stereotyped as villains. Even if Beatrix hadn't been indoctrinated into Rosalind's way of thinking, however, chances are, she'd still be the kind of fairy who goes after exactly what she wants in Netflix's Fate.

Beatrix very much exemplifies the "dog with a bone" obsession that a Scorpio can have. Even when other characters think she's let something go, she comes right back to the subject in the next conversation. She is incredibly stubborn in her efforts to release Rosalind, letting nothing and no one get in her way.

Sagittarius: Terra

Terra manipulates a plant in The Winx Saga

Like Aisha, Terra tends to go into caregiver mode around her suitemates. She also keeps her head when placed in the middle of a crisis. Those two traits show off some Virgo tendencies, but Terra is more in line with a fire sign - Sagittarius.

Terra embodies the scholarly traits of the archer incredibly well, throwing herself into the subjects that interest her so deeply that she can talk about dirt for hours on end. Sagittarians are also known for their tendency to be blunt, always seeking the truth, and Terra pulls no punches with either Musa or Stella, doing just that.

Capricorn: Rosalind And Sebastian

A split image features Rosalind and Sebastian in The Winx Saga

The audience doesn't get to know Rosalind very well in her short time in The Winx Saga; that will come in the second season since she's now free from her magical prison. What they do see of her, however, lends itself to Capricorn ambition and dedication.

It might not be clear why Rosalind wants power, or what her endgame is in running Alfea, but it's clear she spent decades getting to the position she's in by the end of the first season. She's ambitious, playing the long game, and working hard to get what she wants.

Aquarius: Musa

Musa attempts to use her power during class in The Winx Saga

Musa initially holds herself back from her suitemates, not wanting to get too attached. In fact, for an empath, Musa spends a lot of time holding her emotions in check. That's something many born under the sign of Aquarius are good at, but it doesn't mean they're unfeeling.

Aquarius is also known as the most rebellious of zodiac signs. They like to follow their own path, much like Musa tries to shut out her gift and take on a more active role in fight training. They also are intensely loyal, like Musa opting to take Sam's pain despite how much it terrifies her after he's attacked. Aquarius is definitely her best fit amongst the Winx zodiac signs.

Pisces: Farah

Farah Dowling meets with Bloom in her office in The Winx Saga

The heistress of the show when the series starts, Farah Dowling seems to be especially intuitive. While it's made clear that every fairy has a specialty, Farah seems to understand them all, a holdover from her The Winx Club character.

Though she keeps plenty of secrets from her students, she cares about them all and wants what's best for them. Farah strives to create a safe learning environment for them that, unfortunately, she can't master. Her empathy for their struggles and her connection to the magic makes her a clear Pisces among the Winx zodiac signs.
