Summary
- The live-action Fallout TV show is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2024 and has garnered positive reactions from fans.
- The show's release date is strategically set for April 11, 2024, potentially capitalizing on a lack of new content due to strikes in the industry.

The Fallout TV show is headed to Amazon Prime Video in 2024, and what's been teased so far of the live-action adaptation of the iconic games looks incredibly promising. Fallout is a series of post-apocalyptic video games set after a nuclear war wipes out civilization in 2077. The events take place in an alternate timeline where everything is nuclear-powered, and Fallout's aesthetics are heavily influenced by post-war artwork of the 1950s and retro-futurism.
Post-apocalyptic settings are nothing new, but Fallout has stood out thanks to its world being unique both before and after the bombs dropped — and its unique style makes it easy to see why Amazon Studios gave the live-action Fallout series the green light. While there have been several concerns voiced about the Fallout TV show, reactions to set photos, BTS images, teasers, and casting announcements have all been overwhelmingly positive. With the Fallout TV show release date now set the anticipation for the arrival of the live-action adaptation is high.

Fallout TV Show Release Date
Fallout Arrives In April
The Fallout TV show release date is set for April 10, 2024. The month indicates that Fallout may be a key project for Amazon Studios, as previous Amazon Prime Video hits such as Citadel and Jury Duty both arrived in April. Some have also observed that the timing may be to capitalize on the expected slump in new content in early 2024 due to the repercussions of the Hollywood strikes.
The WGA strike was resolved on September 27th, 2023, and the SAG/AFTRA strike was resolved on November 9th, 2023.

Fallout TV Show Story
What Happens In The Wasteland?
The Fallout TV series is set in Los Angeles around Vault 33 and will take place in the game's time period, meaning at some point between 2102 and 2287 in the alternate retro-futurist timeline. The Fallout TV show won't be drawing from the original game narrative save for the setting itself. Rather, Amazon is crafting an entirely original plot centering around a survivor named Lucy who ventures out into the post-apocalypse for the first time.

Watch The Fallout Trailers Below
The release of the first Fallout TV series teaser trailer finally gave fans their first look at the show and how closely it follows the visuals of the games. Lucy is introduced as a naive vault-dweller who decides to venture out into the wasteland for the first time, only to discover a terrifying new world of monsters and mayhem. Walton Goggins' The Ghoul is featured prominently in the trailer as well, and it's clear he isn't the typical zombie-like ghouls found in the rest of the Fallout universe.
A few months later, an official full trailer for Fallout was also released which offers even closer looks at major details from the games. Though the bulk of the trailer is dedicated to Walton Goggins' gunslinging ghoul, it also shows off the Brotherhood of Steel with a bit more clarity, as well as beloved images like the Vault Boy statues. It is unclear if more trailers will be released before the show's April 2024 premiere.
