Fallout's Red Rocket TV Tease Hints At A Potential Character Intro

Red Rocket filling stations have been in the Fallout games since Fallout 3, but arguably the most memorable one is in Fallout 4. The filling station just outside the starting location of Sanctuary serves as a good place to hunker down — if Sanctuary (and Preston Garvey) are too much to handle. Notably, the Red Rocket station also comes with a dog companion named Dogmeat. While there are several elements the show needs to avoid from the games, including Dogmeat — or any dog companion — as a character would be a smart move for several reasons.

Why The Fallout Show Including Dogmeat Would Be A Smart Move

Adorable animals and creatures are great for emotional appeal and — perhaps more cynically — mass merchandise opportunities. Amazon only has to look at one of its rivals, Disney, to see how The Rings of Power, and there’s perhaps no better way to achieve this than introducing a lovable dog companion in Fallout.

The past few years have seen a rise in video game adaptations on big and small screens. HBO’s killed the argument that video game adaptations “suck.” Only time will tell if Amazon’s Fallout will get the same reception. Solid casting and promising production reveals are a great start. However, introducing another clever game parallel through a dog companion at a Red Rocket filling station would be even better.
