Building up your CAMP in Fallout 76 is essential, as is finding the right items. Once you have a CAMP up and running, there are some items you will want to prioritize over others that will help you progress. There are some basics that everyone needs, but there are also some items that will be more important as you get further in the game.
Items in Fallout 76 are quite important throughout the game, as many of them give you buffs or perform functions that you cannot play properly without. Some of these items are locked behind certain story missions, but for most early items, the missions are not hard and are mostly dialogue-focused. Once they are done, you can keep building up your CAMP and grab some nonessential but very cool items.

One Huge Fallout 76 Revelation Proves Your Building Efforts May Have Been Futile
Players are tasked with rebuilding Appalachia in Fallout 76, but one detail about the game's setting may prove that these efforts are pointless.
8 Bed
Rested Buff
While it may seem obvious, the Bed is one of the most important CAMP items you can include in the base. It does not matter what kind of Bed you use, as several varieties are available throughout the game, but you will want it to be one of the first things you build. A simple, modern Bed plan can be bought from Pendleton or Grahm for 100 Caps.
Any Bed will give you the Well Rested buff, although a Sleeping Bag will just give you Rested. Additionally, if an Ally is present in the CAMP, you will get a Kindred Spirit buff, and if that Ally has been romantically wooed, you will get the Lover’s Embrace buff.

7 Stash Box/Vault-Tec Stash
Inventory Storage
Another extremely important item, the Stash box in Fallout 76, is likely one of the first things you will put down. This allows you to dump your inventory and save it for another day. All Stash boxes owned by the same individual will have the same content regardless of where it is, allowing you to access it wherever you can put it down. They can hold a total of 1200 pounds.
Other players on the same server can not see someone else’s Stash inventory.
These containers are incredibly useful and let you access your inventory without carrying everything with you. However, since it does have a limit, you will still want to sell off what you do not think you will need. The basic version of the container is unlocked by default.

6 The Fertilizer Producer
Brahmin Production
The biggest reason to use this item is that it ively creates fertilizer by spawning a brahmin that wanders around the area directly nearby. It can store up to 5 units of fertilizer, which can be used to make and grow crops. Additionally, the brahmin can be milked (carefully) to get Brahmin Milk. This gives you a way to produce more crops and get extra substance in the form of milk.
The plan for this can be found in many locations, including any lootable area on the world map, and it can be awarded for various quests and events. You can also have a chance to get it from Daily Ops.

5 Vending Machine
Become A Vendor
Having a Vending Machine in your CAMP will allow players to sell items to each other and mark your CAMP as a Vendor location. You can sell items by marking them as for sale in your Stash, and you will receive 90% of the sale price. This is a great way to get rid of items you don’t need and get something in return.
If you lose power or an enemy destroys the machine, your CAMP will lose the Vendor icon until this has been resolved.
Like the Stash, you will learn this by default upon starting the game, and you can list 120 different items on the machine. You can build up to 4 total Vending Machines in your CAMP, each sharing the same inventory. You can see some of the best items to sell in MrWestTek's video.

The Strangest Fallout 76 Creature Could Be Hiding Unspoken Fallout Lore
Fallout 76's weirdest creature isn't just for show - its existence cuts to the heart of its lore. Here's why it matters in the context of the series.
4 Ammo Converter
Using Extra Ammo
The Ammo Converter is an extremely useful item that converts your ammo into Ammo Points. At the machine, you can convert used ammo or spend Ammo Points on new ammo. You can also buy and sell several different types of ammo, including ballistic, energy, explosive, and high—and low-powered types.
There are two different ways to unlock the Ammo Converter, one through finding the plan at Mortimer’s shop in the Crater Core. You must have a reputation with the Raiders of Cautious or better, and it costs 1250 Gold Bullion. It is also available in the Atomic shop for 500 Atoms. Finder's Keepers' video will help you understand how the Ammo Converter works.

3 Ally
Companion Buffs
While this is not strictly an item, it is in the sense that you have to build an item for them to summon them to your CAMP. There are 18 possible Allies with an associated item, and three are currently romanceable. Most have an associated location or quest or can be found in the Atom store. Once their object is built, they will be added to the CAMP and give you a daily buff. Preferably, you will want to pick one who can at least give you the Kindred Spirit buff.
Beckett, Sofia, and Adelaide are all possible romance options in Fallout 76.
You can only have 1 Ally object in your CAMP at a time, and they can be switched out by removing their object and adding another one. However, some CAMP slots can have different allies added to them.

2 Workbenches
Simple But Effective
Players can build several different workbenches in their CAMP. Some can be built right away, but others must be completed by completing some very early-game quests. Thirst Things First will unlock the Chemistry Workbench. Second Helpings will unlock the Tinker’s Workbench. Both of these make essential items in Fallout 76, like ammo and aid items, making it important to make these items a priority.
Other crafting stations for specific use cases like Armor, Cooking, and Weapons exist. Having these workbenches can help, but priorities should be the Chemistry and Tinker’s Workbench once you can get them. MrWestTek's video has some pointers about how to reach these specific quests.

1 Sympto-Matic
Cure All
If you do not want your ally slot taken up by the doctor, you can use the Sympto-Matic instead to treat your wounds and any conditions. It has several different abilities in the lore, but realistically, it can cure any disease you have, which makes it helpful to have on hand as you will not have to make many aid items or find a doctor.
You have to have quite a high level to get this one, as you will need Level 50 to earn it through the Daily Op rewards. However, the plan for it can also be bought from Minerva, but it is an item on rotation, so you will have to check with her often. If it is there, it will cost 2000 Caps to get this item in Fallout 76.
