And there is one specific random encounter that is extremely amusing, provided the Sole Survivor has the right stats.

10 Fallout 4 Side Quests You'll Definitely Want To Finish

Fallout 4 is a game packed full of great quests, both big and small. But which out of the plethora of side quests on offer are worth completing?

Mr. Gutsy’s Curfew From The Great War Is Mandatory

Finding This Random Encounter Can Be Tough

Mr Gutsy explains who gave its orders to the player in Fallout 4 random encounter.

Out of the many encounters in the Commonwealth, there is a chance to run into a Mr. Gutsy robot patrolling. It can often be found on bridges, such as the bridge close to the Beantown Brewery, but will also pop up on various roads. Refusing to it that the war is over, this Mr. Gutsy will try to enforce a pre-war curfew, where the only options are to obey or fight. However, if the Sole Survivor has enough points in a particular S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stat, Luck, then there is a funnier option to end the encounter.

One Of The Funniest Fallout 4 Random Encounters

This Mr. Gutsy Doesn’t Care That The War Is Over

Mr Gutsy can be talked down with a charisma check in Fallout 4 random encounter.

The Mr. Gutsy encounter is what is known in Fallout 4 as a chokepoint encounter, which is designed to trigger in areas of limited maneuverability, such as bridges or tunnels. As the Sole Survivor attempts to them, the Mr. Gutsy will initiate dialogue, informing the Sole Survivor of a mandatory curfew. Mr. Gutsy will claim that its orders came from Provisional Governor Graham, and it doesn't seem to know or care that the Great War is over.

Governor Graham can be learned about if the Sole Survivor visits the Massachusetts State House, close to Boston Common. There, terminal entries will reveal that Graham took control sometime in October 2077 and declared martial law, claiming Boston had been infiltrated by communists. It is unclear whether Graham took control before or after the bombs fell, but his paranoia and ego led to him sending out hundreds of military robots to carry out his orders with lethal force.

The options for most Sole Survivors will be either agree and leave the area, or refuse and fight the robot. If the Sole Survivor agrees to leave and then does not move far enough away, then the Mr. Gutsy will become hostile, which will also initiate combat. Those with high enough Charisma can also choose to claim they are on important military business, which Mr. Gutsy will acknowledge, allowing the Sole Survivor to leave peacefully.

The Mr. Gutsy encountered will level with the Sole Survivor and may appear as other, tougher, variants such as Lt. Gutsy and Colonel Gutsy.

Having High Luck Creates A Fun Alternative To The Random Encounter

Luck Stat Of 7 Or Higher Required

However, there is another option available to bring this encounter to a much more amusing end, which will only work if the Sole Survivor has a Luck stat of seven or more. When speaking with the Sole Survivor, Mr. Gutsy will say: "Repeat, will you comply?", attempting to gain their compliance and have them leave the area. But if the topmost option of "Will you comply" is chosen as a response, then the fun can really begin.

Repeating the Mr. Gutsy command back to it is hilarious on its own with each of the two Sole Survivor voice actors having different interpretations of the line. A female Sole Survivor will sound mocking, similar to a child or teenager, with the final line delivery being especially funny. Meanwhile, the male Sole Survivor adopts a more robotic voice to poke fun at the Mr. Gutsy as a "fellow robot."

If the Sole Survivor does not have high enough Luck, then this fun game will fail and the Mr. Gutsy will become hostile.

The results are the same though, as once the line has been repeated four times, the Mr. Gutsy will begin to malfunction. Stating that a loop has been detected, the robot will start to glow red as it overheats, before exploding. While many could play Fallout 4 and never come across this particular random encounter, it is a very fun example of the developers' sense of humor and reward for high stats for those lucky enough to find it.
