The Settlement system was received with some criticism when first introduced, but some creative survivors of the post-apocalyptic franchise have found ways to leverage the system to bring to life amazing creations, even though the community management mechanics built around these settlements are often viewed as shallow. Resource gathering and management are extremely important when using the crafting system to manage large scale creations, especially without the use of creative modes or mods. The Settlement mechanic was added to the MMO Fallout 76 as well, and while players generally favor Fallout 4's building mechanics instead, the Fallout 76 CAMP system has been used for some impressive things, like recreating BioShock's Rapture in Fallout 76.

Impressive and expansive Settlements like this speak to how far the building feature in Fallout 4 allows survivors to go if they are willing to gather the resources and put in the effort.
