Fallout 4 has no shortage of quests and characters, all telling fascinating stories that flesh out the post-apocalyptic world. However, not all the tales the Sole Survivor can find will be so obvious, with many needing to be discovered through exploration and investigation. Scattered all over the Commonwealth are working computer terminals, many of which have some amazing and sometimes heartbreaking stories.
Some of Fallout 4's saddest stories can be listened to and pieced together as the Sole Survivor travels in search of their son. Many of the stories found on devices such as terminals and holotapes come from pre-war Boston, offering glimpses of the world before the bombs. However, there are some from Fallout 4's present day, sometimes helping to shed light on the inner workings of raider gangs.
10 Murder In Vault-Tec Regional HQ
Chilling Insight Into Vault-Tec Management
Located a short walk northwest of Goodneighbor is the Vault-Tec Regional HQ, a large tower that served as the base of operations for Vault-Tec in the Boston area. Inside the building will be full of feral ghouls, but what really makes this location stand out are the various terminal entries. In total, there are three terminals that tell a behind-the-scenes story of Vault-Tec and its practices, with the most notable being Dr Martin Reid and manager Frank Davidson.
A skeleton can be found under some shelves in the basement area, next to a pen, making Sharon's final resting place obvious.
In his logs, Reid slowly starts to piece together Vault-Tec's true intentions for the Vaults found in Fallout 4, including those for Vaults 95 and 111. Davidson's terminal is far more chilling as he casually fantasizes about killing his secretary, Sharon, after she spilled coffee on his shirt and then doing the same to Reid. In the basement, Walter Scott's terminal fills in the blanks, as he notes Sharon hasn't been seen for a few days, and recalls the time Davidson broke a pool cue over the head of another employee who annoyed him.
9 Deadly Science At HalluciGen
A Dangerous Company Struggling To Turn A Profit
Not too far from the Vault-Tec Regional offices is HalluciGen, Inc., now home to several Gunners who have been affected by a chemical leak. HalluciGen were manufacturers of biochemical agents before the Great War, and the Gunners have unwittingly released a hallucinogenic chemical into the building's air system. Fighting through the mercs will allow the Sole Survivor to read the terminals throughout the building and get a better idea of the situation.
HalluciGen's terminals paint a picture of a company with very little regard for life and morals but also one scrambling to come up with new ideas in the face of a loss in profits. Terminals tell of repeated test failures and hint at shady practices by drugging the water of visiting Ethics Review Board . Inside the Development Lab, the terminals list the various failed prototypes, including some that killed test subjects.
8 Post-War Tale Of West Everett Estates
The Fortified Settlement Was Too Tempting A Target
West Everett Estates is a small settlement in the east of the Commonwealth, directly north of the BADTFL Regional Office. With houses very similar to Sanctuary, West Everett will be overrun with Super Mutants when the Sole Survivor arrives, but after clearing them out, the full story of the location can be discovered. There are two terminals that tell West Everett's story, one down in the Tournquist family bunker and the other belonging to Lance Ames.

Fallout 4's Relay Towers Lead To Some Awesome Hidden Locations & Quests
Fallout 4 has five Relay Towers scattered throughout the Commonwealth, each letting the player discover locations and stories to flesh out the world.
The entries tell the story of Wayne Tournquist, Lance, and other neighbors in the months after the Great War as they struggle to protect their families. Working together, they fortified the neighborhood, fending off ghoulified neighbors in the process, before Lance's brother Leon told armed men about their settlement. The final entries reveal that raiders came and took over, killing Lance and forcing Wayne to flee with his children.
7 Corporate Warfare At Vim! Pop Factory
Nuka Cola Wouldn't Take No For An Answer
Located to the south of Far Harbor's Island is the Vim! Pop Factory, a drinks company mostly popular in Maine. When the Sole Survivor arrives, it will be home to a large group of Super Mutants and is also the location of a secret facility belonging to DiMA. The terminals tell a story of a small company under increasing pressure from Nuka Cola, unaware there were undercover operatives from the rival company in their midst.
Companion terminal entries can be found in the basement at an unmarked location southeast of the radiant crest shrine. This was the base of operations for Nuka Cola's three-person team, who had been sent to the Island to sabotage and attack Vim! Pop. While one member worked at the factory undermining the company from within, the other attacked trucks, assaulted workers, and even openly attacked with a missile launcher as the bombs began to fall.
6 Raider Leader At Corvega's Obsession
Jared Wanted To Figure Out How To Get The Sight
The Corvega Assembly Plant is a location many Sole Survivors are familiar with, as it's the first location they will be sent to during the Minutemen questline. The factory is full of raiders, some of which keep diary-like terminal entries. The most notable belong to Jared and Lonnie, high-ranking of the group, who clearly have different ideas about how things should be run.
Jared's terminal entries will also mention other raider leaders such as Slag, Tower Tom, and Bosco if they are killed by the Sole Survivor before entering Corvega.
While Lonnie concerns themselves with defense and making sure the ghouls in the area have been properly cleared out, Jared becomes obsessed with getting the Sight. Reading his terminal, it's clear that Jared once lived in a settlement with Mama Murphy and has become fixated on getting the same gift she claims to possess. In his entries, Jared talks of his experiments with chems and testing them on other gang , with his final entry noting that he sent the raiders to the Museum of Freedom to collect Mama Murphy for him.
5 A Tale Of Two Raiders
The Stand-Off Between Beantown Brewery & The Federal Ration Stockpile Gangs
The Federal Ration Stockpile and the Beantown Brewery are two locations in Fallout 4 that are home to large raider gangs, led by Red Tourette and Two Tom respectively. Like many of the Commonwealth's gangs, the two groups look out for themselves, competing with each other for resources. After an attack on the stockpile by the Beantown gang, Red's sister Lily was taken by Tom's men and held at the brewery, with a promise to keep her alive in exchange for food.

Fallout 4: Which Raider Gang Should You Side With In Nuka-World?
Keeping the peace between three raider gangs in Fallout 4's Nuka-World is no mean feat and knowing who to keep around and who to betray is vital.
The terminals of both leaders tell the story from different perspectives, with Red determined to get her sister back. However, unbeknownst to Red, Lily is dead, having been killed by Tom during an escape attempt. In his entries, Tom's panic is evident as he attempts to conceal her death even from his own men by hiding Lily in one of the brewery's vats.
4 The Sad Story Of Kim Wu
The Heartbreaking Tale Of Pre-War Prejudice
In the years before the Great War in the Fallout universe, America was at war with China, which led to a lot of anti-Chinese attitudes among the population. Internment camps were set up with families forcibly rounded up and sent to them. Sometime in 2077, Kim Wu, a little girl living in the Pearwood apartments in Boston, was forced to move into a backroom at her uncle's house in Natick Banks to avoid being sent to the internment camps.
Kim Wu's story mirrors that of Anne Frank who was forced to hide from the Nazis in an attic with her family and is also a reference to the Japanese internment camps that were set up in the US during World War 2.
Kim's terminal entries are all from the perspective of a child who doesn't fully understand why and how her life has changed so drastically. At first, she is frustrated at not having her own room anymore and not being able to watch the World Series. However, once the sirens sound, Kim mentions hearing a huge boom, with her final entry speaking of angry people in the family's home.
3 Hearing Things At Listening Post Bravo
Was There Really Something There?
Listening Post Bravo is towards the north of the Commonwealth, just a short trip southeast of Greentop Nursery. Most Sole Survivors will know the spot if playing through the Brotherhood of Steel storyline as it is the location for the showdown between Paladin Danse and Elder Maxson. However, the terminals in the listening post also tell a pre-war story of a young army sergeant. Sergeant Renkse was assigned to the listening post to monitor long-range communications but began to hear strange noises they couldn't explain.
At first, it was phrases when listening to low-band frequencies, but it seemed to escalate to someone banging on the elevator door, prompting Renkse to send a holotape to Washington. However, the holotape was blank, with Renkse worried that the possible hallucinations would go on their permanent record. It is unclear if Renkse was simply suffering from being alone for so long or if they did hear something, as the last message was probably made shortly before the Great War.
2 D&D Game At Mass Fusion
Good To Know TTRPGs Exist In The Fallout Universe
The Mass Fusion building plays a key role in the main questline of Fallout 4, with multiple factions wanting access to valuable technology held there. However, traveling through the massive building to the reactor room will reveal that not everything was doom and gloom before the bombs dropped. Looking through the inboxes of four employees, the Sole Survivor can discover a Dungeons & Dragons-like game in progress.

Every Major Fallout 4 Faction, Ranked
There are some great factions in Fallout 4 with a mixture of new and returning groups for the Sole Survivor to meet and potentially up with.
D Wahbash, B Thorpe, X Vincent, and C Collins were frequently exchanging messages about their adventures, with Wahbash acting as the group's dungeon master. Reactor attendant Vincent was playing a rogue named Shadowfiend, Collins was a paladin named Gandar, and Thorpe appeared to be a wizard named Tamash. The party was in the middle of a fight with a strange hellspawn but, unfortunately, never got to finish their game.
1 The Fall Of Libertalia
Even Those With Good Intentions Can Fall
Libertalia is a large raider encampment spread out over several ships and make-shift docks on the eastern shore of the Commonwealth. At first, the people there seem like typical raiders with nothing to make them stand out from the many other gangs across the region. However, the terminal there will reveal a startling story of a group of good people descending into the raider life.
The terminal entries will all be written by James Wire, a former Minuteman who left the faction with a group of others after the death of General Becker in May 2282. At first, the group tried to live honestly, even hanging who attacked caravans. But by April 2283, Wire had accepted that he and his men were raiders and began to actively recruit new . Wire's terminal entries sadly prove that in the world of Fallout 4, even good people can end up doing terrible things.

Bethesda's action RPG Fallout 4 puts players into the vault suit of the Lone Survivor, a pre-war soldier from an alternate future cryogenically frozen inside Vault 111. After their infant son is kidnapped, they venture out into the irradiated wasteland of the Commonwealth to scour the ruins of Boston for any sign of him. In doing so, they encounter various factions and companions and use an array of skills and abilities to navigate the apocalyptic remnants of society.
