The X-Men may be the most iconic team of mutants in Marvel's universe, but the team called Excalibur has its own mission, hip, and magic. And thanks to a common enemy and some new recruits, the team is finally forming into a fighting unit... and taking the battle to their enemy in the mystical Otherworld.
While the leadership and heroism of fantasy monsters to invade Marvel's main universe was the kind of disaster that keeps on giving. But with Morgan Le Fay setting her army after all the mutants --or the ancient "witchbreed" to her -- readers will be pleased that Marvel's official preview for Excalibur #6 finds the heroes united, finally taking the offensive as the magical strike team Excalibur can be.
The biggest hurdle was Rogue's semi-magical coma, contained in a floral pod as part of Apocalypse's plan. Even on the mutant paradise of Krakoa, he can't break his habit of ascending beyond all others. But the previous issue saw the magical slumber broken, allowing Rogue to destroy Apocalypse and absorb his power (at least, that's how it appears for the moment). But with Apocalypse still front and center in the issue's cover art, something tells us his role isn't over just yet. So it's a good thing Excalibur is finally hitting their stride as a team.
