In area on the Elden Ring map called Ranni's Rise . This area is home to the witch Ranni and her associates, including the Elden Ring NPCs Blaidd the Wolfman and Seluvis the Sorcerer. Players will find Ranni in the tower, and, when they approach her, she will ask them to serve her.
If players decline Ranni's offer and choose not to help, there are no downsides, and players can continue on their quest to find the Erdtree. Ranni will not retaliate if players refuse, and she will even give them the option to serve her again if players initially refuse her and return to Ranni's Rise later in their game. Of note, Ranni will not allow players to serve her unless they have defeated one of two bosses in Elden Ring: General Radahn in Caelid, or Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon at the Raya Lucaria Academy.
If players do agree to serve Ranni, they will begin one of the most complex questlines in the game and even potentially change the ending. When players agree to serve the witch, she will task them with finding the hidden treasure of Nokron. Additionally, she will instruct players to speak with her associates the War Counselor Iji, Blaidd, and Seluvis. Players will find these ghostly NPCs on the first floor of the tower. Through speaking with each of these characters, players will eventually learn that Starscourge Radahn stopped the stars. In order to uncover the secrets in Nokron, players will need to defeat this Elden Ring enemy.
Elden Ring: Ranni's Quest Guide
Players should defeat Radahn in battle to open a new entrance to Nokron, which can be used to reach Night's Sacred Ground and obtain the Fingerslayer Blade, which is the secret treasure of Nokron. Once players obtain the blade, they should return it to Ranni. In doing so, players will be rewarded with a Carian Inverted Statue that they can use at the Carian Study Hall to reach the top of the Divine Tower of Liurnia.
After investigating, Renna's Rise will be open, and players can take the waygate to reach Ainsel River. Players should explore until they find a miniature Ranni at a Site of Grace on the river. After interacting with the miniature witch, players will be tasked with defeating the Baleful Shadow. Players will need to head to Nokstella and defeat the Baleful Shadow. Conquering this enemy will reward players with the Discarded Palace Key. Using this Elden Ring key, players can unlock the chest in the Raya Lucaria Grand Library next to Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon , and they will uncover the
Dark Moon Ring .
Using the Dark Moon Ring, players can travel back to the Lake of Rot and proceed to the Grand Cloister.
Once there, players will be able to use a coffin to battle Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. After winning this fight, players will need to proceed to the Moonlight Alta and enter the Cathedral of Manus Celes, where they will find Ranni's body. Players can use the Dark Moon Ring on her corpse, and the witch will proclaim that she is now fully at rest within this church in Elden Ring. Players will be rewarded with the Dark Moon Greatsword and the option of completing the Age of the Stars ending.
