Elden Ring's many award nominations suggest that the game could be getting a new trailer during the event, or perhaps a new deep dive into the story and gameplay. A new Elden Ring trailer was revealed during E3 2021, showing off a look at the game in action and announcing its release date, but as one of the most highly-anticipated launches fans are eager for more information. The fantasy-action RPG will follow the story of the Tarnished, who is destined to harness the power of the Elden Ring and become an Elden Lord in the Lands Between. Like previous FromSoftware titles, the game is expected to be difficult in a similar way to titles like Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
Gamescom 2021 will begin with Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25 at 8pm CET, and is once again being hosted by gaming personality Geoff Keighley. Those tuning in to the free online event can expect game announcements, trailers, and gameplay reveals, as well as a first look at events coming throughout the rest of Gamescom. The opening night will be the first of many scheduled events, with various developers and publishers already signed up to appear. Xbox, Sega, Ubisoft, and Bandai Namco are just a few of the names fans can expect to see across the entirety of Gamescom. Over 20 games were featured during 2020's Gamescom Opening Night Live, with high hopes for this year's show. Gamescom 2021 will end on Friday August 27.
Elden Ring will release on January 21, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, Microsoft Windows.
