Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, is a Legend Boss in ageway to the Deep Ainsel Well, which holds the lift to the Moonlight Altar in South Liurnia.
To get to the Naturalborn of the Void in Elden Ring, Tarnished travelers must progress through Ranni's tale by defeating Royal Knight Loretta in Caria Manor, slaying General Radahn of Caelid, and retrieving the hidden treasure of Nokron, the Fingerslayer Blade. Afterward, the Sending Gate to Ainsel River Main in Renna's Rise will become active, allowing adventurers to travel to the northern half of Ainsel River, which contains Nokstella, Eternal City. Next, Tarnished pilgrims must kill the Baleful Shadow guarding the entrance to the Lake of Rot. After crossing the vast swamp of liquid rot and reaching the Grand Cloister temple, Elden Ring players can ride the coffin transit to Astel's lair below.
Defeating Elden Ring will reward players with 80,000 Runes and the Remembrance of the Naturalborn, which can be exchanged with Enia for the Ash of War: Waves of Darkness or Bastard's Stars. Bastard's Stars, despite its rather crude name, is a beautiful weapon imbued with Astel's dazzling Nebula skill and is ideal for those who wish to flail their enemies with a mini solar system.
How To Defeat Astel in Elden Ring
Astel's moveset is relatively basic, and her attacks are fairly slow and telegraphic. However, the range and damage output of her abilities are what will likely be the biggest challenge for Tarnished to overcome. The boss fight will begin with her Cosmic Laser, a Comet Azur-like spell that fires after a moment of priming. If the player is still far from her, she will execute a Tail Attack in Elden Ring, which can have a second follow-up, depending on the space available. The abilities Tarnished challengers should be cautious of most are her Waves of Darkness, Gravity Waves, and Teleport Grabs. During Astel's Waves of Darkness, the boss slams down and causes several shockwaves that punish those who dodge away. The Gravity Wave is a move identical to the Fallingstar Beast's, hurling Tarnished into the air and smashing them into the ground. The Teleport Grab has Astel come from the left to grab and devour the player, usually resulting in instant death.
Unfortunately, there's no known way to cheese or defeat this boss other than memorizing her moveset and attacking when openings are available. However, several Tarnished have been able to take the Void Naturalborn down by using Rotten Breath and running near the wall so that she cannot perform her Teleport Grab. While the rot works its magic, stay near the wall, avoiding the boss's attacks. Repeat the process whenever the Scarlet Rot stops doing damage.
Elden Ring is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
