Dribbling plays a huge part in football matches, but EA Sports FC 25 has a lesser-known technique that can greatly improve your control of the ball, called the effort dribble. While normal dribbling can easily be done by simply controlling the direction your players move, there are many different ways you can run with your player which are all useful in different circumstances. One such method is the effort dribble, a new addition to the series, and one which gives more control over every step that you take.
There have been a lot of changes to dribbling for this year's EA Sports FC 25, including updates to controlled sprint, which is a great tool to use when you are in the box. However, one area that a number of players have struggled with is when traveling at a normal jog, as too often any nearby defenders can step in and take the ball away. Effort dribbling provides a real alternative to normal dribbling and is easy to perform regardless of the in-game stats of the player you are using it with.
How To Perform Effort Dribble
Add A Different Option On The Ball
While normal dribbling is primarily done with the left stick, by holding one button and using the right stick you can activate Effort Dribbling. On the PlayStation hold R1 and on Xbox hold RB before controlling your direction with the right stick. If you flick the stick quickly, in a short burst, you can perform short quick turns, while holding a direction will keep you in control over a longer distance.

PlayStation |
Press and hold the R1 button + flick the Right Stick |
Xbox |

You'll need to practice using the effort dribble as it's much harder to execute than simply holding the direction and dribbling as normal, but with time you can make moves and dribble through small gaps not previously possible. It allows you to keep tighter control of the ball, as it is kept closer to your players' feet. This improves control for all players in EA Sports FC 25, regardless of whether you are using one of the best attackers in the game, or defenders who normally struggle with the ball at their feet.
When To Use Effort Dribble
The Most Effective Times To Use Effort Dribble
There are two times that the effort dribble comes into its own. Firstly, when you are surrounded by multiple defenders and are looking for a route out into space. Normally, dribbling doesn't provide the control needed, but with precise movements through effort dribbling, you can get that extra space needed to either dribble away yourself or make a to an open teammate.
The length of time you hold the right stick down changes how quickly you will turn using effort dribble.
The other time it is effective is in the final third of the pitch if you are looking for an angle to get a shot away on goal or to provide the final killer . By using a quick flick of control dribbling, you can set up the perfect angle, such as when you want to use a Finesse Shot. Effort dribbling is a new addition to EA Sports FC 25 which every player should add to their arsenal to get you out of tight spots, as well as set up opportunities in front of goal.
