Later this month, fans can for E3 is returning as a digital event this summer, though, and several big-name publishers have already promised to participate.

Today, the ESA shared details on how fans can in on the all-digital E3 2021 fun. Developed by Game Cloud Network, HCL Technologies Ltd and Revyrie Inc., the E3 2021 online portal and app will act as a central hub that hosts virtual “booths,” video conferencing, profile creation, and online forums. This key destination will gain traction during a five-day media access week scheduled to start Monday, June 7. Free public access will follow on June 12 and registration goes live on an unspecified date later this month, the ESA said in a press release.
In outlining the above details, the trade association also noted that E3's public access portal will host exhibitor booths - hubs within the portal comprised of "key announcements," VOD segments, and other information related to individual exhibitors. Moreover, E3 2021's virtual attendees can expect the portal to house lounges, or "online gathering spots," forums, "gamified show elements" in the form of leaderboards, and profile creation. Viewers will additionally be able to check out E3 broadcasts by tuning in through E3's Twitch, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook pages.
Thus far, the ESA's all-digital E3 event sounds as though it's the optimal way to proceed with this year's celebrations. As evidenced by the success of DC Comics' DC FanDome, which set the gold standard for virtual showcases, fans are bound to flock to the content in droves should it prove to be of high quality.
Three hosts were announced for E3 2021 a couple of weeks ago, each set to deliver developer interviews and commentary throughout the four-day exhibition. Said hosts include Kinda Funny's Greg Miller, eSports commentator Alex "Goldenboy" Mendez, and Jacki Jing - an entertainment host who's worked with IGN and the Anime News Network.
E3 2021 is slated to last from Saturday, June 12 through Tuesday, June 15.
