Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin.

Dune is currently scheduled for release in December, though like all 2020 movies, there's a concern it could be delayed because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. For the time being, though, Warner Bros. is operating as though it will make that date. After poring over a slew of images of the entire cast, fans will finally get to see the first Dune trailer this week. The trailer debuted in theaters with Tenet, but it will arrive online for the first time in two days on September 9.

Ahead of the Dune trailer debut, fans are hearing more behind the scenes testimonials from a recent Empire cover story (via DiscussingFilm). The latest comes from Zendaya, who revealed she and Chalamet got along really well from the moment they met. "I met Timothée Chalamet at my chemistry-read [for ‘DUNE’]," Zendaya shared. "I felt like we’d known each other forever, like he was my homie growing up. We became really great friends." She then concluded with something many have already said before: "He’s very talented."

Villeneuve has already heaped praise on his leading man, assuring fans that Dune is in good hands. There has been some wariness about the latest iteration of Dune simply because previous adaptations have fallen short, but Villeneuve has put together a star-studded cast and intends to split the film into two, thus giving the source material more time to breathe. Odds are, Dune fans will really begin to judgement when the first trailer arrives and they can see more of what Villeneuve has in store.

Of course, Dune won't be able to succeed without a winning Paul, and it sounds like the film has certainly found one in Chalamet. Zendaya will undoubtedly prove to be an excellent Chani as well, though she's already hinted that her role in Dune is rather small. Nevertheless, it will be exciting to see Chalamet and Zendaya take center stage in Villeneuve's Dune in December, provided it doesn't get delayed. Only time will tell if it can actually stick to that end-of-the-year slot.
