Sony has unveiled a brand-new pro DualSense controller features like haptic and adaptive triggers make gaming even more tactile, and now the DualSense Edge will further improve the gaming experience for a steep price.

The PlayStation 5's DualSense controller is packed with fun features, and games that take advantage of these features can immerse players deeper into the game world. For example, the Hogwarts Legacy will use DualSense features to make players feel like they've stepped right into the Wizarding World. The DualSense's light bar will change colors to match the player's Hogwarts house, or to reflect each spell they cast. Haptic and adaptive triggers will specifically add weight to the player's wand hand, helping the DualSense controller enhance Hogwarts Legacy and the player's magical abilities further.

As revealed on the PlayStation Blog, the DualSense Edge pro controller will bring a range of new functions to the fingertips of those willing to pay. The pro controller boasts a number of fascinating features like wildly customizable controls, replaceable joysticks and caps, back buttons with customizable button mapping and adjustable trigger stops. While the DualSense Edge will give PlayStation 5 players a major tactical upgrade, the pro controller will be sold for a staggering $200. This almost triples the $70 pricepoint of the original DualSense, and is half the price of a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console. Those that find the advantage worth the cost can pre-order the DualSense Edge starting October 25.

The DualSense Edge Gives The Controller A Sharp Price Jump

While first-party games tend to use the DualSense to its fullest potential, a recent Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 update added a wide range of new DualSense-specific functions to CD Projekt Red's sci-fi RPG. The game's 1.5 patch added several new ways for the open-world title to take advantage of the controller's haptic and adaptive triggers, making Night City feel even more alive and immersive. Each firearm now feels truly unique to wield and fire, thanks to simulated recoil and reloading, and driving through the neon-lit streets now gives additional weight to every turn and acceleration.

The DualSense controller is already considered one of the PlayStation 5's best features, and now the DualSense Edge will grant pro gamers an even tighter experience. However, the controller's price will drive away many prospective buyers who could buy three regular DualSenses or half of a PS5 Digital Edition for the same price. Professional gamers may find the DualSense Edge worth the price, but casual PlayStation 5 s will want to stick to the original version.
