In Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, the Tower of Rubiss is one of the endgame dungeons that will provide quite a challenge for the player in preparation for the final leg of their journey. This is one of the final steps in the story before facing the Lord of the Underworld. The party will fight against a familiar enemy bearing a new form, which should give players some catharsis after battling them previously.

Players should acquire the Faerie Flute from the town of Kol in the northeast of the Underworld before making their way to the Tower of Rubiss. This item is necessary to free Rubiss from her imprisonment by Zoma. This is also where the Hero can get their hands on the best weapon in the game, the Sword of Kings.

All Item Locations In The Tower of Rubiss

Auroral Armor Location

There are several noteworthy items in the Tower of Rubiss, including the strongest armor for the Hero in the game. The Auroral Armor reduces damage from fire and ice attacks and heals the wearer while they walk. Players can also find the Stormlord's Sword, which can burn groups of enemies to a crisp when used as an item in battle.

All Items in Tower of Rubiss

1F

Two chests straight north from the entrance

Left Chest - Mimic

Right Chest - 2,016 Gold

2F

Treasure Room northeast from the southwest stairs

North Chest #1 - Staff of Sentencing

North Chest #2 - Phial of Sage's Elixir

North Chest #3 - Mimic

North Chest #4 - Silver Shield

South Chest #1 - Full Moon Ring

South Chest #2 - Care Ring

South Chest #3 - Stormlord's Sword

South Chest #4 - Phial of Magic Water

3F

Hidden just north of the rubble in the central room - Mini Medal

Chest in the northwest room - Holy Talisman

4F

Center Room Chest - Auroral Armor

West Room Chest - Angel's Robe

5F

Chest - Elfin Elixir

Some of these chests are Mimics, so beware of their OHKO moves like Wack and Thwack. Having characters with high Agility helps a lot against these enemies. There are also Liquid Metal Slimes in the Tower of Rubiss if players wish to farm some levels before facing the boss.

How To Reach The Soul of Baramos

Starting from the entrance, players should move north and then west to find the hallway leading towards the southwest stairs, which takes the party to 2F. From there, move north and east to find the treasure room, where trap tiles guard chests. After looting these chests, take the northeast staircase to 3F. On 3F, take the southeast stairs to 4F to pick up the Auroral Armor from the central room.

Throughout the Tower of Rubiss, the player will encounter trap tiles with blue and orange arrows. A good rule of thumb for navigating these trap tiles is to that moving north will move the player in the direction of the orange arrow, and moving south will move the player in the direction of the blue arrow.

Return to 3F and continue to the northwest to reach the back of the main tower, where the party can jump out of the window to land outside the rear entrance of the tower. Enter and head to the west to continue up several flights of stairs until the party reaches 5F. Then, head to the central room of 5F to face off against the area boss, the Soul of Baramos, a rematch against Baramos, the Archfiend boss in Dragon Quest 3.

How To Defeat Soul of Baramos

Weakness To Ice And Lightning

Dragon Quest III Soul of Baramos Boss Fight

In order to defeat the Soul of Baramos, buffing the party as soon as possible will make the fight go a lot smoother. Making use of a Sage in order to Accelerate the party will enable the player to deal more damage before Baramos and his Ashdemons can attack, reducing his offensive power. Attacks that hit all enemies on the field, such as Sword Dance or Monster Pile-On, are perfect ways to take out the Ashdemons as quickly as possible so the party can focus solely on Baramos.

The Hero's Ability Gigaslash makes short work of the Ashdemons.

The Soul of Baramos himself is weak to ice and lightning damage, so utilizing Lightning Slash and Kacrackle will cause major damage. Once the Soul of Baramos has been defeated, the party can use the Faerie Flute to rescue the Faerie Rubiss. Now, the party can progress to the Sanctum to acquire the items needed to reach Zoma's Citadel in Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake.
