Summary
- Chi-Chi's fanart depicts her in a battle-ready form, departing from her usual domestic role.
- Chi-Chi was originally a strong fighter but got sidelined post-Saiyan Saga in Dragon Ball.
- Fans crave a return to Chi-Chi's fighting roots and hope Dragon Ball Daima will showcase her prowess.
In the Dragon Ball series, Chi-Chi doesn't get as much love as other female characters like Bulma and Videl, but that doesn't stop elaborate fanart from paying delightful tributes. Such is the case with Kakeru on X, whose rendition of Chi-Chi is significantly more exciting than her more domesticated persona throughout much of the series post-Saiyan Saga.
Chi-Chi's first appearance in the Dragon Ball manga is back in chapter #11, or episode #7 of the anime, where she's introduced as the daughter of the Ox-King and is quickly taken by Goku. As elaborated in flashbacks such as in episode #202 of the anime, "Gohan's First Date", Chi-Chi used to be able to match Goku's strength in their mutual youth, which endeared her to him in their first date.
This battle prowess was not lost in the latest Chi-Chi fanart from Kakeru, where her fighting form is on full display in another Dragon Ball timeline.

"Isn't It Unfair?: Akira Toriyama Already Explained The Real Reason Fans Are Wrong About A Big Dragon Ball Critique
One of the biggest criticisms of Goku is how readily he will help an enemy, but Toriyama has a solid reason for why Goku is so willing to do that.
Chi-Chi's Latest Fanart Proves She Is a Slept-on Character
The Princess of Fire Mountain Deserves Better
As shown in Kakeru's authentic Dragon Ball fanart, Chi-Chi is drawn in the Akira Toriyama style, brandishing a sword and striking a pose that'd make her fit into a scene from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. This is a significant departure from how she is depicted in adulthood, frequently fretting over Gohan's schooling and being seen as a somewhat one-dimensional character after the Saiyan Saga, despite plenty of fascinating Chi-Chi facts. But Chi-Chi's depiction in this Dragon Ball fanart, garnering 16k likes and over 2k reposts, indicates that this portrayal resonates with fans desiring more.
This is especially the case when fans are reminded that Chi-Chi could fight and was, at one point, likely the strongest woman on the planet in Dragon Ball. Her participation in the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament is among the last interesting moments she gets in the series. Still, even this ing rendition of a battle-ready Chi-Chi excites the fans, instead of bizarre lore like Dragon Ball Super's reveal that she has never kissed Goku. Still, given the series Dragon Ball Daima, there's potential for her to surprise the fans once more.
Fans Deserve an Exciting Chi-Chi Rendition
Perhaps Dragon Ball Daima Could Be the Elixir
While it's unrealistic to expect a changed rendition of one of Akira Toriyama's oldest Dragon Ball characters, the Chi-Chi fanart speaks for the fans hoping to see her again ready to choose violence. After all, the series has her constantly reiterating the importance of her son Gohan's studies instead of him becoming a fighter like Goku, or worse, a delinquent. But if Kakeru's numerous works of Chi-Chi fanart aren't enough, perhaps it could happen in the mini style of the Dragon Ball Daima series; it'd be nice to see her once again fight like she has historically proven she can do.

From the creative mind of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is a mega multimedia franchise that spans back to the 1980s. Dragon Ball expanded quickly, starting as a serialized manga for Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan. It made its way overseas via manga and an anime adaptation that is enjoyed worldwide. Dragon Ball was the initial starting animated series that followed the adventures of the young Son Goku as he sought after the Dragon Balls. These mystical orbs would grant the wish of any who gathered them together. Then, the series would branch off into the immensely popular Dragon Ball Z, which followed Goku as an adult and featured high-intensity battles and Goku's never-ending search to be the strongest. The series has also enjoyed several popular video game adaptations and continues to release several new animated series and theatrical films up to the recent popular Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
