Bulma and Vegeta before anyone else, but duos like Gohan and Videl, and Krillin and Android #18 have had their fair share of cute on-screen moments.
However, one of Dragon Ball's most underrated couples might just be one of its best. Though one half is the series' iconic leading Saiyan, the undeniably influential Goku, his relationship with Chi-Chi is rarely ever given the respect it deserves from the franchise's ever-growing fan base. They may not spend all that much screen time being overly affectionate with one another, and their personal philosophies might clash, but together, Goku and Chi-Chi form quite the power couple.
Goku and Chi-Chi Are Dragon Ball's Most Underrated Couple
The Two Martial Artists Form One Unlikely Power Couple
When a marriage begins with an all-out showdown in a tournament meant to crown the top martial artist in the world, it can be assumed that the couple is packing some firepower. And though Goku might have misunderstood Chi-Chi's request, the duo has stuck together since the end of the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament. They may differ from one another in a variety of ways, but there's a mutual respect between them that cannot be denied, even if it isn't shown in the most outward displays of affection.
This mutual respect is best seen in how they've raised their children. Because they don't exactly see eye to eye, Goku and Chi-Chi take on different roles, while allowing the other to do their thing. Goku wants Gohan to train and become stronger, while Chi-Chi wants him to study. They're both correct in what they want for their child, and so they both play to their strengths while giving the other room to operate.

Dragon Ball's Chi-Chi Proves Just How Dangerous She Is In Undeniably Cool New Fanart
Dragon Ball fans around the world continue to show their ion, even for underappreciated characters like Chichi, in this new fanart.
Of course, Chi-Chi isn't always totally on-board with Goku's plans for Gohan, but will come around when he needs to fight. As a result, their son is able to grow into the scholar he always wanted to be, while also being one of Earth's strongest defenders. Later, when Goten comes along, it becomes clear that Chi-Chi always respected Goku's wants for their children, taking over his role and training her son to the best of her abilities in his stead.
The Son Family Dynamic Is a Product of Goku and Chi-Chi's Compatibility
Some of Dragon Ball's Most Interesting Characters Come From One Family, and There's a Reason Why
Due to the fact that Goku and Chi-Chi don't exactly see eye to eye on a number of different things, unlike Vegeta and Bulma, for example, the Son Family dynamic is arguably the most interesting in the series. The dichotomy between the gentle nature and absurd power that make up Gohan's character has allowed him to remain a fan-favorite cast member for nearly 40 years. Goku and Chi-Chi, in their own nature and the way they raised Gohan, are responsible for those two warring sides.
In Goten's case, the series' youngest half-Saiyan shares a bit more in common with his father, despite Goku having been dead for a majority of his childhood years. This might be thanks to Chi-Chi taking on Goku's role and training her son, while lowering her focus on academics, or even because of Gohan's influence as a crime-fighting teen. Whatever the case may be, Goku and Chi-Chi are responsible for Dragon Ball's most interesting and strongest family, and are by far the series' most underrated power duo.

From the creative mind of Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball is a mega multimedia franchise that spans back to the 1980s. Dragon Ball expanded quickly, starting as a serialized manga for Weekly Shonen Jump in Japan. It made its way overseas via manga and an anime adaptation that is enjoyed worldwide. Dragon Ball was the initial starting animated series that followed the adventures of the young Son Goku as he sought after the Dragon Balls. These mystical orbs would grant the wish of any who gathered them together. Then, the series would branch off into the immensely popular Dragon Ball Z, which followed Goku as an adult and featured high-intensity battles and Goku's never-ending search to be the strongest. The series has also enjoyed several popular video game adaptations and continues to release several new animated series and theatrical films up to the recent popular Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
