The illustrious Dr. Disrespect has returned to streaming for the first time since he was permanently banned from Twitch in June, with his platform of choice being YouTube. While there are claims that the Doc has not been offered an exclusive deal from any streaming platforms following his ban, his surprise return was teased earlier this morning via a cryptic live stream.
Dr. Disrepect was reportedly banned from Twitch on June 26 with the only reasoning being a violation of Twitch's of service. While many speculated the reasoning for his ban, some claiming the Doc was involved in criminal activity, the official reason still remains unknown. Even the Doc himself claims to have no knowledge of why he was banned.
This morning, a live video was streamed from Dr. Disrespect's Instagram profile. Twitter Benjay_ ed a recording of the live video in which the Doc parody's insiders who claim they know more about the Doc situation due to having "sources." The live teased Doc's new song, which was released today, as well as his return to streaming. A quote from the live stated, "I am now receiving word Dr. Disrespect may return to streaming as soon as today."
The Doc then posted a new music video to his own Twitter without caption. The video features the Doc singing in a dimly lit room while the rain falls on the city before him. The Doc sings lyrics such as "I don't even know why I try..." and "You can't replace me" seemingly pointed at his former platform, Twitch. So far, Dr. Disrespect has released two new music videos for songs titles "Alleyways" and "Red Skies."
Without any further announcement, Dr. Disrespect went live on YouTube around 4:40 p.m. EST. He did not post on social media signifying he was streaming, but over 300,000 viewers tuned in with a large number of people subscribing to his channel, paying to his channel's hip program, and donating large amounts of money all before Dr. Disrespect showed his face on stream. Despite the Doc seemingly choosing YouTube as his new platform, notable gaming insider Rod "Slasher" Breslau tweeted that his sources at Facebook Gaming and YouTube told him that they will not be offering Dr. Disrespect any streaming deals, but that he is still welcome to stream on their platforms.
After being live for over an hour without making an appearance, the Doc tweeted another cryptic message stating, "Tomorrow, we arrive" with a link to the Doc's YouTube channel. The live stream continues to loop the same audio from Doc's fictional radio station which includes fake news broadcasts poking fun at people like Joe Rogan and Shroud who have been hot topics as of late. The broadcast could potentially remain live until Doc makes an appearance tomorrow.
It's been months since three of the internets biggest streamers (Ninja, Shroud, Dr.Disrepect) have been away from the gaming scene, all three of which were de-platformed in a manner of different ways. Ninja has tested out different platforms including YouTube where he also experienced a very warm welcome. The Doc seemingly only has one option, and if his future streams on the platform are anything like they were today, Dr. Disrespect may be claiming YouTube as his new forever home.
