Legendary first-person shooter DOOM + DOOM 2 bundle sees the first two games in the series receive physical releases for modern hardware, and a limited edition actually includes a specialized console to play the games on a built-in screen.

DOOM + DOOM 2's Will It Run Edition plays on the classic gag of getting DOOM to run on all sorts of hardware, coming in a Collector's Edition Box that has a screen and USB ports for connecting a controller. The Will It Run Edition and the lesser Big Box and Standard Editions of DOOM + DOOM 2 will be available from Limited Run Games starting April 18. There are only 666 copies of the Will It Run Edition available, and each costs $666.

We already know what you’re asking. Three immortal words: “Will it run?” Get ready for the only collector’s edition that plays DOOM, only at Limited Run. — Limited Run Games (@limitedrungames.com) 2025-04-11T14:36:07.134Z

DOOM Will It Run Edition Includes Not Just One, But Two Ways To Play DOOM

A Cacodemon Can Run DOOM

If playing DOOM on the box it comes in wasn't enough, the DOOM + DOOM 2 Will It Run Edition also includes a handheld console modeled after the games' Cacodemon, built specifically to run DOOM. The Will It Run Edition also includes a Cacodemon statue, and a certificate of authenticity, ing that your purchase is one of the 666 copies manufactured by Limited Run Games.

The Will It Run Edition also includes the contents of the Big Box Edition: a cassette tape soundtrack featuring both the OST and the more modern rendition by IDKFA, and five collectible DOOM trading cards. The Standard Edition is, of course, just the physical game release, available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Will It Run Edition Is The Perfect Celebration Ahead Of DOOM: The Dark Ages' Release

DOOM's Latest Launches May 15, 2025

A demon's face for the new Legacy of Rust episode released in the DOOM + DOOM 2 collection.

Despite its high price point, the Will It Run Edition is a wonderful and incredibly meta celebration of DOOM, and pre-orders for it open just under a month ahead of the series' latest installment. DOOM: The Dark Ages is a prequel set for release on May 15, 2025, and continues id Software's modern reboot, which started in 2016 with DOOM and continued through 2020's DOOM Eternal.

The Dark Ages' new weapons and combat will certainly be the highlight of the year for the legendary series, but a brand-new physical release of DOOM + DOOM 2 helps keep the series' very important legacy alive. DOOM wasn't the first FPS, but it's arguably the most influential, and Limited Run Games letting DOOM essentially play itself with the Will It Run Edition is a fitting celebration of one of gaming's longest-running jokes.
