This guide will help players with tips and tricks for defeating the Doom Hunters in Doom Eternal.
The Hell Priest Deag Ranak describes the Doom Hunter as a creature designed only to hunt the Doom Slayer. It maintains the reminiscent of Sabaoth, which was the third boss in the original Doom 3. This creature is a monstrosity, combining demons with technology. It rises from the ground while Deag Ranak narrates over its intimidating reveal. One arm is a chainsaw, the other is a rocket launcher. It has no legs, as the bottom half of its body contains jets that help it fly around the map. Right next to the jet are sentry guns, aimed directly for the Doom Slayer. While its first encounter is in a 1v1 fight (outside of some smaller minions attacking the Doom Slayer at the same time), later fights pit the Doom Slayer against multiple Doom Hunters at a time. It also uses an energy shield to protect the higher part of its body when it receives too much damage. It is prepared for whatever the Doom Slayer decides to throw at it and was carefully produced by the Hell Priests to take him down. This guide will provide tips and tricks for slaying the Doom Hunter.
Tips and Tricks for Defeating The Doom Hunter in Doom Eternal
When beginning the first encounter with the Doom Hunter, the game prompts the player to let them know that its shield and sled are the weak points on the body. The sled is the lower part of its body that propels it into the air. Focus fire on this when not attacking its torso. To destroy the shield, use the Plasma Rifle. Once the shield is gone, the Doom Hunter will begin to openly take damage to its health. The sled itself is what keeps the creature mobile. Use the Rocket Launcher or the Sticky Bombs modification for the shotgun to break this down. Attacking the slid itself will also stagger the boss for a bit. The Doom Hunter banks on its smaller minions to maintain the focus of the Doom Slayer. Do not focus too much attention on the smaller enemies, as they will continue to respawn after being defeated. Although, if the player is running low on health, damaging them a bit and meleeing them when they glow is great for gaining health back. Also, using the chainsaw on smaller enemies is ideal for refilling ammo, as the Doom Hunter takes a decent amount of hits before being taken down.
The Doom Hunter flies around the map pretty sporadically. Try not to keep shooting if it is not in Doom Slayer's line of sight. This is an easy way to waste ammo. Hitting it will also send it spazzing into a random direction. Keep shooting it in the sled to stop it from moving so much and finish the job with a finisher. Next, the player will jump into a hole and this time has to face two Doom Hunters at once. This is a bit tougher since the player now has to deal with two of these monstrosities on top of all the other smaller enemies. On the bright side, the area is plenty more elaborate than last time, providing the player with several escape routes if things get too difficult. Defeating them is still the same, use the Plasma Rifle to take down its shield and the Rocket Launcher to deal the final bit of damage. After defeating the two Doom Hunters, the player is rewarded with a violent but satisfying cutscene of the Doom Slayer decapitating one of the remaining Hell Priests, bringing the Doom Slayer one step closer to completing his mission.
Doom Eternal is one of the most satisfying games to release in 2020. The game doesn't hold back its gore and this raises its quality to higher degrees when compared to other titles. When the legendary franchise was rebooted by Bethesda back in 2016 with Doom, it received critical and financial acclaim for bringing the series back to its roots. Doom Eternal ranked highly amongst gamers most anticipated sequels lists and most anticipated games of the year. Players can get through the main campaign in about 10-15 hours, depending on the play style of the player. Outside of this, the game also has an online multiplayer mode where the player can step into the shoes of various different demons. Each one plays how the player would expect them to after constantly tearing through them in the campaign. This brings plenty of replay value to the title and is a great time when played with friends. The game is also much more story-heavy when compared to its prequel game, providing lore through beautiful voice-acted cutscenes and hidden items that describe enemy types and Hell Priests scattered around the map. Doom Eternal is a must-buy for gamers who enjoy fast-paced action and tons of blood.
Doom Eternal is available on March 20th, 2020 on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Google Stadia, Xbox One, and PC.
