Millie Gibson teases Ruby Sunday's next appearances in Doctor Who season 15 and weighs in on the unraveling mystery of Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson). After traveling with the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) throughout Doctor Who season 14, Ruby settled down on Earth with her newly expanded family in the finale. However, as she waits for the Time Lord's return, Ruby finds herself facing a far more sinister human threat at home in the show's latest episode, "Lucky Day," that could undermine everything she, the Doctor, and UNIT fight for.
As Gibson sat down with ScreenRant to unpack her latest Doctor Who appearance, the star confirmed that, despite needing time away from adventuring following "Lucky Day", Ruby will return in the two-part season 15 finale. The star also praised Dobson's performance as Mrs. Flood, teasing that even she was taken by surprise at her true identity. Check out Gibson's full response below:
Well, even though Ruby's so dramatic - even though she's like, "I need to find somewhere just by myself, alone with no one" - she's back. She comes back in 7 and 8, so that was really exciting. I don't think I can say too much more than that.
However, I'm very excited, and I was very honored to come back for the finale. [As for Mrs. Flood], I do know! But my theories prior were completely off, if that tells the fans anything. Doctor Who fans are so much cleverer than I am, so they probably will hit it right on the head. But I was like, "Oh!"
Anita Dobson is incredible, for one, so whoever she turns out to be would be iconic. But I've always loved Mrs. Flood. I think she's such a chaotic neighbor. If she lived next to me in real life, I'd be like, "I'm doomed." It's just her vibes.
And I love how she's Belinda's neighbor, as well. I think that's thrown everyone off. It's really clever.
What Gibson's Response Means For Doctor Who's Season 15 Finale
Conrad Has Few Limits In His War Against The Doctor
The ending of Doctor Who season 15, episode 4 truly pushed Ruby to her limit. Despite her best intentions to carry on in the Doctor's stead, the machinations and misinformation pushed by Conad (Jonah Haur-King) and his Think Tank podcast highlighted how the threats aren't just from beyond the stars. However, with Conrad now aided by the mysterious Mrs. Flood, it is clear that there is little that the podcaster won't do in his vendetta against the Doctor. UNIT may have won back some public confidence, but Conrad's actions have already had a chilling implication.
As part of his "exposure" of UNIT, Conrad and Think Tank leaked all available personal information on the organization's staff, which includes several past companions of the Time Lord. There's an implication that this led to many facing harassment in their own homes. As one of said previous companions, Ruby will likely play a part in this ongoing Doctor Who story, especially since she is confirmed to come back. Gibson's knowledge of Mrs. Flood's true identity also indicates Ruby will be present for whatever revelations occur.
Our Take On Ruby's Doctor Who Season 15 Finale Role
The Doctor Will Need All The Help He Can Get
With Ruby now confirmed to appear in both parts of Doctor Who's season 15 finale, there is a chance she and the Doctor will finally reunite. Despite his year-long stay on Earth in "Joy to the World" giving him a new perspective on his relationships, the Time Lord is still reluctant to get involved with his Earth-bound companions once more directly, even if he has kept a close eye on them. However, with Gibson teasing Mrs. Flood's shocking identity, it is clear the threat she and Conrad pose is too great for the Time Lord to face alone.
