We've just got our Doctor Who is feeling more and more real all the time. However, there's going to be a little wait.
We'll first see her in the Christmas Special. "Twice Upon a Doctor" teams Peter Capaldi's 12th Doctor with David Bradley as the 1st Doctor (stepping in for the late William Hartnell), in a tale about the two of them coming to grips with their respective needs to regenerate. At the end of the episode, in Doctor Who tradition, Capaldi will regenerate and Jodie Whittaker will become the Doctor - presumably getting in a quick line in before the credits roll.

But that tiny glimpse of the actress at the end of the year will barely be enough to satiate fans, much less give them an idea of what her Doctor will be like. Some will no doubt be hoping there'll be a Season 11 trailer after the Christmas Special, although that's unlikely considering the new season will only have been filming for a matter of weeks when the Christmas Special airs. If there's anything at all, don't expect more than a very brief teaser.
So, when will you see Whittaker's first full season?
All that BBC will say regarding Season 11 is that it will debut sometime in Fall 2018. Because the UK TV release schedule is less rigid than America (with shorter seasons) that makes it hard to gauge, especially as we don't know how long the run will be; incoming showrunner Chris Chibnall intends to shake up the Doctor Who formula in many ways (not least with the show's Peter Capaldi took the reins of the TARDIS and now Chibnall says to expect Whittaker's first season to be just ten episodes long, though he intends for his episodes to run longer than usual — at least 50 minutes each, with the season premiere running for at least a solid hour.
We've got a long wait until Whittaker actually takes over the TARDIS but - based on everything that's happened so far - it's going to be worth it.
