An important trailer for end of Doctor Who season 14. Very few details are known about the adventures he will undertake in these new episodes, but certain clues from the recent trailer seem to indicate that the show’s stakes will be increasing massively.
One of the biggest mysteries in Russell T. Davies’ ongoing second tenure as Doctor Who’s showrunner is the true identity of Mrs. Flood, the enigmatic neighbor played by Anita Dobson. The character first appeared in Ncuti Gatwa’s first episode as the Doctor, where she took audiences by surprise by breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the camera. Since then, she’s displayed knowledge about the Doctor’s past that fans have struggled to explain - but hopefully, the season will finally reveal who this mysterious character really is.
Doctor Who Season 15's Trailer Confirms Mrs. Flood Can Travel Through Time
The Character Is Present At An Off-World Music Competition
Since she first made reference to the TARDIS in 2023’s Christmas Special, audiences have been theorizing that Mrs. Flood is a secret Time Lord. While there’s been little evidence for this throughout the show, Doctor Who’s latest trailer makes this possibility much more likely. Mrs. Flood appears very briefly in the trailer, but she can clearly be seen in the audience of the Interstellar Song Contest. Until this point, we’ve only ever seen Mrs. Flood on present-day Earth.
Mrs. Flood’s presence at the Interstellar Song Contest subtly proves that she’s able to travel through time (or at least space), which lends even more credence to the theory that she’s secretly a Time Lord. It also raises important questions about why she’s following the Doctor, and exactly what her intentions are. Until now, she’s remained in the shadows and rarely spoken to the Doctor at all; this could end up being the episode when the Doctor finally learns who she really is.
Mrs. Flood Being A Time Lord Seems More Likely Now
Time-Traveling Is A Big Giveaway
This small detail is huge evidence that Mrs. Flood is a Time Lord - not just because she’s able to travel through time, but also because she’s using her time-traveling powers to follow the Doctor on his adventures. The Time Lords have always kept close tabs on the Doctor throughout the years, and given the Master’s destruction of Gallifrey in “The Power of the Doctor”, it would make sense that any survivors would feel the need to keep their distance. If this theory turns out to be true, Mrs Flood’s true identity could also explain what happened to the Master.
It would be very similar to the revelation that Yana was secretly The Master in “Utopia” - it was doubly exciting for long-term fans who already knew about this character, but it also effectively introduced him into the new era.
The idea that Mrs. Flood is a Time Lord could have massive repercussions for the show, as it’s been a while since Doctor Who really focused on this important part of the character’s backstory. It would also be an exciting way of introducing new audiences to the alien species for the first time, as they’ve only been briefly mentioned so far in the rebooted era. It would be very similar to the revelation that Yana was secretly The Master in “Utopia” - it was doubly exciting for long-term fans who already knew about this character, but it also effectively introduced him into the new era.
Mrs. Flood Could Also Travel Through Time If She Was A Pantheon Member
This Doesn't Definitively Prove That She's A Time Lord
Of course, the fact that Mrs. Flood can travel through time doesn’t necessarily mean she’s a Time Lord. There are plenty of alien species (and future humans) with access to time-travel technology in Doctor Who; characters like River Song and Captain Jack regularly did this using Vortex Manipulators in previous seasons of the show. The only thing separating Mrs. Flood from these characters is her ability to break the fourth wall, which clearly sets her apart from other time-travelers in Doctor Who.

Mrs Flood Is A Classic Doctor Who Character Even More Obscure (& Powerful) Than Sutekh: Theory
Doctor Who's Mrs. Flood tease at the end of season 14 could secretly be the modern take on a powerful force from the classic episodes of the show.
Another leading theory about Mrs. Flood is that she’s a member of Doctor Who’s Pantheon of Gods, a collective that was continually mentioned throughout the show’s fourteenth season. With known including Maestro and Sutekh, there are still plenty of unknown Gods who could appear in future seasons. This would also explain how she seemingly knew about Sutekh’s return in Doctor Who's “Empire of Death”, but doesn’t quite go far enough to explain her continued interest in the Doctor.
